Britt, City Manager, to
come to the meeting to discuss the construction line with them.
Mrs. Garnett Wood, Gulf Street, Sanford, North Carolina,
appeared before the Board and advised them that she had taken surplus funds
collected from the sale of Christmas seals and purchased equipment to mit-
t fit a theraphy room at Lee County Hospital. The Board advised Mrs. Wood
that they would be happy to accept equipment in the name of the County.
Mr. Carl Watson, of Courtland Acres, Route 8, Sanford,
North Carolina, appeared before the Board and presented a petition request-
ing that the roads in Courtland Acres Subdivision be added to the State
Maintained Secondary Road System.
After discussion, Commissioner Kelly moved the adoption of
the following resolution:
WHEREAS, the attached petition has been
filed with the Board of County Commissioners of
the County of Lee requesting that the above desc-
ribed road, the location of which has been indicated
in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary
Road System; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners
is of the opinion that the above described road should be
added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets
minimum standards and criteria established by the State
Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the
System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE
BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF THE COUNTY
OF LEE that the State Highway Commission is hereby
requested to review the above described road, and to
take over the road for maintenance if it meets established
standards and criteria.
Commissioner Ledwell seconded the motion and upon a vote
it was unanimously adopted.
The statements and invoices as prepared by the County
Accountant were presented and reviewed by the Commissioners and upon
motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner Kelly, and
unanimously adopted, the statements and invoices were approved and
ordered paid.
Commissioner Kelly reported to the Board that he had
received a report from the Engineer on the old Jail building. The letter
was read to the Board by the Clerk but no formal action was taken at this
time.
Mr. B. B. Britt, City Manager of the City of Sanford,
appeared before the Board and discussed construction of water lines and
various sizes and approximate costs of installing same.
Upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, it was
ordered that 57 Jurors be drawn for the Criminal Term beginning on Monday,
March 22, 1965.
