print ^ PAGE 335 <br /> WHEREAS, THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS has considered <br /> the various items for the budget estimate for the fiscal year 1965-66: <br /> NOW THEREFORE, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF LEE <br /> COUNTY that said budget estimate for the expenses of the operation of <br /> the County of Lee and its various agencies and departments for the <br /> fiscal year 1965-66 be and the same is hereby tentatively adopted as <br /> the budget of Lee County for said fiscal year; and the tax rate for said <br /> County of Lee be and the same is hereby tentatively fixed and estab- <br /> lished at $1.10 for each $100.00 valuation of the taxable property <br /> for the fiscal year 1965-66; and that a special tax of 20¢on each $100.00 <br /> valuation of taxable property in the Sanford Graded School District and <br /> the Jonesboro Graded School District for the fiscal year 1965-66. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said budget be filed and lie on <br /> the table in the office of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners for • <br /> Lee County for at least twenty days for public inspection, and that a <br /> summary of said budget or notice of filing of said budget in the office <br /> of the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners in the Lee County Court- <br /> house be published in the Sanford Herald at least twenty days before <br /> it is finally adopted as the budget for the fiscal year 1965-66. <br /> Commissioner McLeod seconded the motion and a discussion was had <br /> of the principal motion. <br /> The Chairman then called for a roll call vote upon the original motion <br /> of Commissioner Kelly and the Commissioner§ voted as follows: <br /> Commissioner Kelly Aye <br /> Commissioner Ledwell Di\d not vote <br /> Commissioner McLeod - Aye <br /> Commissioner Yow Aye <br /> Commissioner Dotterer Aye <br /> Commissioner Ledwell wants to be recorded as voting "Aye" on <br /> General Tax Rate and "No" on Special School Tax at 20¢. <br /> Mr. Boyd O. Douglas appeared before the Board and requested permission <br /> to extend the water line which runs to the Pittsburg Reflector Co. industrial site. <br /> After discussion, Commissioner Kelly moved the adoption of the following: <br /> RESOLVED that County of Lee assents that the Pittsburg Reflector <br /> Plant water line may be extended as licensed by the City of Sanford on <br /> payment of a tap on fee of $200.00 to said county, with the county <br /> reserving the right to extend any extension of this line without cost to <br /> it, its successors and assigns. <br /> The motion was duly seconded and upon a vote was unanimously adopted. <br /> The Chairman then called for consideration of whether or not the County <br /> would enroll as a unit in the North Carolina Local Governmental Employees' <br /> Retirement System.
