0 <br /> BOCK 6 PARE 381 <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that boiler insurance and workmen's compensation <br /> insurance coverage-be added to the county's insurance program. <br /> Commissioner McLeod seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote it <br /> was unanimously adopted as follows: <br /> AYE: Kelly, Ledwell, McLeod and Yow <br /> NAY: None <br /> There was a discussion about the total premium and how it was divided, <br /> but no action was taken. <br /> Mr. Thomas Haislip, County Extension Chairman, appeared before the <br /> Board and presented a written report of his activities and the written report of the <br /> County Home Economist. <br /> Mrs. Louise Dowdy appeared before the Board and gave a report on behalf <br /> of the Health Department and presented the written report of the County Sanitarian. <br /> Mr. Raymond Ledford, Director, appeared before the Board and gave a <br /> report on the activities of the Department of Public Welfare. <br /> Mr. William Martin, Mrs. Josephine Sheer, and Dr. J.S. Simmons of the <br /> Economic Opportunity Committee appeared before the Board. They requested the County <br /> to furnish services, space, or equipment of the value of $2, 700.00 to support the four <br /> county anti-poverty program administered under Sandhills Community Action Program, <br /> Inc. Upon motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner Ledwell, it was <br /> unanimously resolved as follows: <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br /> County will make available office space, quarters, equipment, or <br /> services of the value of $2,700.00 to the Sandhills Community Action <br /> Program, Inc. during the fiscal year ending 30 June 1966. <br /> Mr. L. L. Beckham appeared before the Board and gave a report on the <br /> activities of the Sanford-Lee County Civil Defense Agency. <br /> Commissioner Kelly moved the adoption of the following resolution with <br /> respect to the proposed extension of road from U.S. No. 1 to Church at Cumnock on <br /> to U.S. Highway No. 421 near bridge over Deep River: <br /> WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County <br /> Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location <br /> of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road <br /> System; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the <br /> above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets <br /> minimum standards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission for the <br /> addition of road to the System. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the <br /> above,described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established <br /> standards and criteria. <br /> Commissioner McLeod seconded the motion and upon a vote it was <br /> unanimously adopted. <br /> PAGE TWO <br />
