PROPOSED BUILDING PROGRAM FOR SANFORD SCHOOLS
PHASE ONE
Time : 1.965-1966 School Year
Cost : $.3OO"',000.00 { estimate)
1 . Add twelve classrooms and a cafeteria at Central School .
2. Add three classrooms and a_.library at Knight School .
State School Bond Monies should accomplish phase one except
for air conditioning.
This would allow for a transfer of all ninth graders to
Central School.
This would create three vacant classrooms at Jonesboro and
six vacant classrooms at Junior High.
This would give extra space at Junior High for overcrowding
to come at McIver and Bragg. ( ex: some sixth graders could
shift to Junior High. )
This would eliminate the use of mobile units at Jonesboro
and Knight .
PHASE TWO
Time: 1966-1967 School Year
Cost: $135 ,000.00 (Submit request to Lee County
Commissioners in April 1966).
1. Renovate old cafeteria at Central for library.
2. Renovate old library at Central for Administrative offices.
3. Add kitchen facilities at Knight School .
4. Add dressing rooms to Central gym.
This would complete facilities for all high school students
at Central School .
This would leave grades seven and eight at Junior High and
grades one through eight at Jonesboro with some extra space
at Junior High.
