Mr. er. D. Gregson, Service Officer, presented the quarterly report of the <br /> Board of Veterans Affairs. He also presented a flag which has flown over the J.S. capital <br /> building for use at the courthouse. The Board ordered the Superintendent of Buildings and <br /> Grounds to prepare a suitable display for the flag. <br /> Commissioner Yow moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br /> Be it resolved that the Lee Community Action Committee be authorized <br /> to use the upstairs portion of the structure rented from Dr. Cade Covington on <br /> ivbin Street in Jonesboro Heights, which space has a reasonable annual rental value <br /> of $1200. <br /> Commissioner McLeod seconded the motion and it was unanimously adopted <br /> by a roll call vote as follows: <br /> Aye: Kelly. Ledweil, McLeod, Yow and Dotterer <br /> NAY: None <br /> 'Ihe minutes of the reguhar meeting of June 9 and of the special meeting <br /> of June 29 were approved and ordered recorded. <br /> The bills as tabulated by the County Accountant were approved for payment, <br /> with the exception of the MU for labor for painting the Jail, upon motion of Commissioner <br /> Kelly, duly seconded by Commissioner Ledwell, and unanimously adopted. <br /> Upon motion of Commiesloner .Ledwell, seconded by Commissioner Kelly <br /> 1 and unanimously edopted, it was resolved to authorize the Superintendent of Buildings and <br /> Grounds to selan the most advantageous price the two bathtubs at the Adult Education <br /> Building and the old lawnmower. <br /> Chairman Dotterer reported to the Board the request of Mr. John Sheer of <br /> Lee Crafts, Inc. for an extension of a water line to and the errectlon of a water tower at <br /> their proposed industrial site on U.S. 421 at its intersection with the Morris Chapel Church <br /> Road. Since the request did not come within the adopted water line policy no action was <br /> taken. <br /> Chairman Dotterer read to the Board the letter received from Sanford <br /> Recreation Board pertaining to this years budget allocation. <br /> Chairman Dotterer read to the Board a letter received from Governor <br /> Dan Moore pertaining to the Total Development Program. <br /> Mr. William W. Staten, Democratic nominee far N.C. House of Represent- <br /> atives appeared before the Board and discussed items of possible Legislative action. <br /> Commissioner Kelly reported the jail painting was done as a result of the <br /> requirements of the jail inspector reported to the Board by the Sheriff. Commissioner <br /> Kelly moved that the bill be approved for payment with the condition that the Sheriff end <br /> all other departments and agencies be advised to comply strictly with the purchase order <br /> system. Commissioner Yaw seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br /> adopted. <br />
