PrP ` //P*W~' . : I <br />800K PACE 16~ <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY <br />Monday, December 4th, 1967 <br />The Regular Meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, <br />North Carolina, convened at 10 o'clock a, m. on Monday, December 4th, 1967, in the <br />Commissioners' Room in the Lee County Courthouse. Those present were Chairman <br />John E. Dotterer, Commissioners Max McLeod, A. E. White, Franklin D. Wicker, <br />and Charles Robert Yow. None of the Commissioners were absent. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on November 6th, 1967, were <br />approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner McLeod reported that he had received a letter from the <br />officers of the Bethlehem Methodist Church of Route 3, Sanford, in which they were agree- <br />able to paying the sum of 90 cents per foot for paving of the driveway to their Church <br />which is approximately 75 feet in length. This request was referred to Mr. Tolar, State <br />Highway Commission office in Sanford. <br />Commissioner McLeod reported that Secondary Road 1403 which runs <br />from Northview on U. S. 1 to Cumnock on U. S. 421, was in bad need of work and the <br />Board instructed the Clerk to write the District Engineer and find out what could be done <br />to advance this''road. on the priority list for work. <br />The County Attorney reported to the Board that he had negotiated a <br />settlement subject to their approval for the damage done to the County Ambulance in a <br />collision which occured in Spring Lake, North Carolina. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Yow, seconded by Commissioner White, and unanimously adopted, the settlement of the <br />damage for the amount of $ 2 Gi..3o was approved and the Chairman and the Clerk <br />were authorized to execute the release for payment of that sum. <br />Commissioner White reported to the Board that signs were needed on <br />the Secondary Road passing by Cool Springs Baptist Church and the Clerk was instructed <br />to call this matter to the attention of the State Highway Commission, District Engineer. <br />Chairman called the Board's attention to the consideration of the prop- <br />osition that Welfare funds be disbursed from one central bank account in Raleigh. After <br />discussion, upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Yow, <br />consideration for this question was tabled. <br />The Clerk reported to the Board that the bond order entitled "Bond <br />Order authorizing the issuance of $35, 000 School Bonds of the County of Lee", which <br />had been introduced at the meeting of the Board held on November 6, 1967, had been <br />published in The Sanford Daily Herald, on November 22, 1967, with notice that the Board of <br />Commissioners would hold a public Bearing thereon on December 4, 1967 at 10:30 o'clock <br />A. M. <br />Commissioner White moved that the Board proceed to hold a public <br />hearing on the bond order. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Wicker and was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />At 10:30 o'clock a, m., the Chairman announced that the Board would <br />hear any citizen or taxpayer who desired to be heard with respect to the bond order. At <br />the direction of the Chairman, the Cldl. read the bond order and the published notice of <br />hearing. <br />
