At 3:00 o'clock p. m. , in accordance with the public notice <br />and advertisement, the Commissioners adjourned and subscribed and took the <br />oath as members of the Lee County Board of Equalization and Review, before <br />Sion H. Kelly, Clerk of the Superior Court andchposited their oath with the <br />Clerk of the Board of Commissioners as required by law. <br />Following the completion of their duties as the Lee County <br />Board of Equalization and Review, the Commissioners reconvened with members <br />present and Chairman John E. Dotterer presiding. <br />pprop~ a • on- ar- <br />--aotg-vRas=ff ~Eal~rn+ns <br />Chairman Dotterer presented to the Board a letter received from <br />M. H. Reep, Administrator of the Lee County Hospital, to the effect that the Board <br />of Directors of the County Hospital recommended that an additional 20 x 150 strip be <br />added to the area allotted to the exchange with the Sanford Surgical Clinic. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Commissioner White, and unanimously <br />adopted, it was resolved to approve theexchange on that basis. <br />Commissioner Wicker presented to the Board a letter from Mr. <br />O. F. Patterson, advising the Board of Commissioners that the West Sanford Fire <br />Department wasnow inactive. <br />Commissioner Wicker was authorized to talk with the Cumnock- <br />West Sanford and Tramway Fire Departments' about continuing to serve this area <br />with fire protection. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner <br />McLeod, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED)to authorize the use of the <br />County Courtroom by the League of Women Voters on April 23rd, 1968. <br />It was reported to the Board a new employee had been hired to <br />work in the Veterans' Service office and it was authorized to pay her on the basis <br />of the appropriation for Veterans' Affairs currently in force and effect. <br />A compilation of the expense of operating county automobiles <br />was presented to the Board and distributedfor their study. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Yew, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wicker, and duly adopted upon a vote, Deputy Currin's salary was set at $425.00 <br />per month, effective immediately. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Commissioner <br />White, and unanimously adopted upon a vote, it was RESOLVED to pay. the current <br />bills as tabulated by the County Accountant. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner <br />Yow and unanimously adopted, Mr. Hugh Brewer,. the Superintendent of the Buildings <br />and Grounds, was authorized to pave the area leading to the boiler room entrance at <br />the County Jail. <br />/ Chairman announced to the Board that there would be a meeting of <br />V/ the local Government Study Commission on April 5, in Fayetteville, to which all <br />members of the Board had been invited. <br />Page three <br />
