BOOK 7 FAcE222 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA Monday, June 3rd, 1968 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, convened in the Commissioners` room at the Lee County Courthouse in Sanford, on Monday, June 3rd, 1968, at 10:00 o'clock a, m. Those present were Chairman John E. Dotterer, Commissioners Max McLeod, A. E. White, and Franklin D. Wicker. Commissioner Charles Robert Yow was absent when the meeting opened. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: The minutes of the regular meeting held on May 6, 1968; the adjour- ned regular meeting held on May 10, 1968; and the special meeting held on May 24, 1968, were approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner White introduced the following bond order which was read at length: BOND ORDER AUTHORIZING THE ISSUANCE OF $5, 000, 000 SCHOOL BONDS OF THE COUNTY OF LEE WHEREAS, the County Board of Education has determined that existing school plant facilities in the Lee County School Administrative Unit are not adequate for the maintenance of public schools for the nine months' school term prescribed by law, and has requested the Board of Commissioners to provide the sum of $2, 000, 000 to finance additional school plant facilities such as are described in Section 1 of this Bond order and which said County Board of Education has determined are necessary to enable the County of Lee, as an administrative agency of the public school system of the State of North Carolina, to maintain public schools inthe Lee County Administrative Unit for the nine months' school term prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Sanford City Board of Education has determined that existing school plant facilities in the Sanford City School Administrative Unit are not adequate for the main- tenance of public schools for the nine months' school term prescribed by law, and has requested the Board of Commiss- ioners to provide the sum of $3, 000, 000 to finance additional school plant facilities such as are described in Section 1 of this Bond order and which said Board of Education has deter- mined are necessary to enable the County of Lee, as an administrative agency of the public school system of the State of North Carolina, to maintain public schools in the Sanford City Administrative Unit for the nine months' school term prescribed by law;
