M <br />S <br />BOOK 1 PACE 23 7 <br />-3c- <br />ARTICLE II. THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN <br />Section 1. Coverage of the Classification Plan. The attached position <br />classification plan shall be the classification plan of the County of Lee. This <br />classification plan shall include all permanent positions except those exempted <br />in Article I, Section 5. <br />Section 2. Allocation of Positions.. The Governing Board shall allocate <br />each position covered by the classification plan, to an appropriate class in the <br />classification plan. <br />Section 3. Maintenance of Classification. Plan. The Governing Board shall, <br />upon advice and counsel of the Personnel Committee, be responsible for the admin- <br />istration and maintenance of the position classification plan. Department heads <br />shall be responsible for bringing to the attention of the Personnel Committee <br />(1) the need for new positions, and (2) material changes in the nature of duties, <br />responsibilities, working conditions, or other factors affecting the classifica- <br />tion of any existing position. After careful study, the Committee shall report <br />it's findings and recommendations to the Governing Board. New positions shall <br />be established only with the approval of the Governing Board. <br />When the Governing Board finds that a substantial change has occured in the <br />nature or level of duties and responsibilities of an existing position, they <br />shall (1) direct that the existing class specification be revised, (2) reallocate <br />the position to the appropriate class within the existing classification plan, or <br />(3) amend the position classification plan to establish a new class to which the <br />position may be allocated. <br />Section 4. Amendment of Classification Plan, Classes of positions shall <br />be added to and deleted from the position classification plan as deemed <br />necessary by the Governing Board, <br />Page seven <br />
