BCDK 7 FACE233 <br />0 <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wicker, it was RESOLVED to purchase a truck from the North Carolina State Surplus <br />Property Officer for $500.00. The vote was as follows *,g <br />Aye: McLeod, White, Wicker, Yow, and Dotterer <br />No : None <br />Mr. J. F. Hockaday, Superintendent of the Sanford City Board of <br />Education, appeared before the Board and reported that the Sanford City Board of Educ- <br />ation had held a public hearing about the use of the Lee Elementary School Building and <br />that the Sanford City Board of Education would like to make use of the building in the <br />coming school year. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner McLeod, seconded by Conunissioner <br />White, and duly adopted, upon a vote, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Sanford City <br />Board of Education, without any rental fee or charge, to use the building and grounds of <br />the Lee Elementary School Building as granted to this Board by the Lee County Board of <br />Education. <br />Mr. W. B. Wilkins appeared before the Board and stated to the Board <br />that Wilkins Supply Company planned to build a building next to the Methodist Church and <br />except for that building area, would donate its parking building on Steele Street to the <br />County for the County's use in connection with the Wilrik Building and suggested that the <br />Board appoint a committee to look into the matter. The Chairman designated Commiss- <br />ioner White and Commissioner Wicker who are members of the Wilrik Building <br />Committee, to serve as a committee to investigate the use and acquisition of the parking <br />building. <br />Mr. Robert Harris, City Manager, appeared before the Board and <br />read to the Board a letter of intent about facilities to be provided for a new industry <br />which letter was addressed to the "The Fantis Corporation". <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Yow, seconded by Commissioner <br />McLeod, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to authorize the Chairman and <br />Clerk to execute the. letter for and on behalf of the Board. <br />Mr. T. T. Hayes of Hayes, Howell and Associates, Architects, <br />appeared before the Board and was instructed to prepare a sketch showing where it <br />would be feasible to construct an additional Courtroom in the present Courthouse <br />building. <br />The meeting recessed for lunch at twelve fifty (12:50) o'clock p. m. <br />The meeting reconvened at two (2:00) o'clock p. m. with all members <br />present. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: <br />Tho Board proceeded to open and examine bids for maintenance of <br />office machines. The bids were received from Thomas A. Edison Industries, Glasco <br />Business Machines, Mac's Typewriter Service and Alfred Williams & Company. The <br />low bid was received from Mac's Typewriter Service, Inc., in the amount of $635.01. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Yow,_seconded by Commissioner McLeod, and unanimously <br />adopted, upon a vote, it was RESOLVED to award the contract to Mac's Typewriter <br />Service, Inc. , and the Chairman was authorized to execute the contract for and on behalf <br />of the Board. <br />It appearing to the Board from the report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff <br />of Lee County, that Daniel H. Cox, Constable of East Sanford Township, has moved out <br />of the County and thereby said office of Constable of East Sanford Township is vacant. <br />Page three <br />
