Hockaday, Superintendent of the City Board of
Education, who were appearing before the Board relative to the disposition of surplus
monies collected in the tax levy for the fiscal year ending June 20, 1968. Each of the
Superintendents stated that their budgetary request for the current fiscal year were
based on utilizing these surplus funds in maintenance of the plant and if their request
for the current year were reduced by the amount of the surplus from the previous
fiscal year, they would not have adequate funds to properly operate their programs for
the current fiscal year. The Board advised each of the Superintendents that their
requests would be considered in the adoption of the final budget.
Page two
