11 <br />aaax 7 PAGE245 <br />---3k._. <br />ARTICLE V. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT <br />Section 1. A Iicab:ility of Article. The provisions of this article shall <br />be applicable to all employees except those exempted in Article I, Section 5. <br />The benefits provided by this article shall be for full-time service. <br />Section 2. Work Week, Employees shall. normally work five (5) eight (8) <br />hour days per week. Normal work hours shall be from 8.30 l„ M. to 5000 P.M. with <br />one-half hour only permitted for lunch. Department heads shall work those hours <br />necessary to assure the satisfactory performance of their departments, but not <br />less than forty (401) hours per week. When the activities of a particular depart- <br />ment require some other sched-ole to meet work needs, the department head may <br />authorize a deviation from the normal schedule, <br />Section 3. Overtime. Department; heads shall. arrange the work schedules of <br />their employees. Employees shall be required to work overtime only in emergencies <br />as deemed necessary by the department head. Overtime work shall be considered <br />work performed by an employee at the direction of a department head or his <br />authorized representative w`nich exceeds the established work week of the employee. <br />Employees required to work overtime must receive compensatory time off on an <br />hour-for-hour basis at a time which will least obstruct the operation of the <br />department. The Governing Bcard may give approval for paid overtime work result- <br />ing from an emergency. <br />Section 4. Vacation Leave. <br />(a) Vacation Earned. Each gull-time employee shall earn vacation <br />leave at the rate of five-sixths work day per, calendar month of service for a <br />total of 10 work days per year. After ten years' service, the earned vacation <br />rate shall be one and one-fourth work day per oalendar month of service for a <br />total of 15 work days per year. Vacation credits accumulated by full-time <br />employees as of the effective date of this resolution shall be retained and used <br />Page fifteen <br />
