Earned Salary Increments <br />C <br />Salary increases above the minimum <br />established for each class of positions shall be granted only in recognition of <br />improved performance after receiving increases through the third step; further <br />increases shall be granted only in recognition of superior performance. The <br />County Accountant shall each year include funds in the budget proposal for <br />providing earned salary increments. <br />A salary increment given to any employee shall consist, of no less than one <br />full step in the salary range established for his class. Salary increments shall <br />be effective only upon recommendation of the supervising department head and with <br />the approval of the Governing Board. If any employee is recommended for more than <br />a single one-step increment in any fiscal year, the increment shall be effective <br />only with the approval of the supervising department head and the Governing Board. <br />Section 8. Salary of Reclassified Employee. An employee whose position is <br />reclassified to a class having a higher pay range shall receive a one-step <br />salary increase, or an increase to the minimum step of the new salary range, <br />whichever is higher. An employee whose position is reclassified to a class <br />having a lower pay range shall not receive a reduction in salary as a result of <br />the reclassification. <br />Section 9. Salary of Promoted Employee. An employee promoted to a position <br />in a class having a higher pay range shall receive a one-step salary increase, <br />or an increase to the minimum step of the new salary range, whichever is higher. <br />If an employee fails to complete successfully his probationary period following <br />promotion, he shall be reinstated in his former position or in a position in the <br />same class as his former salary. <br />Section 10. Salary of Transferred Employee, The salary of an employee re- <br />assigned to a position in the same class or to a position in a different class <br />with the same salary range shall not be changed by the reassignment. <br />Page ten <br />
