<br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Yow and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to enter into a maintenance agreement
<br />with Alfred Williams Company for the Ditto Copying Machine in the Clerk of Superior
<br />Court's office.
<br />Commissioner McLeod moved the adoption of the following resolution:
<br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has adopted
<br />the bond order hereinafter described authorizing the issuance
<br />of bonds, and such bond order and the indebtedness to be incurred
<br />by the issuance of such bonds, should be submitted to the voters
<br />of the County of Lee for their approval or disapproval, in order to
<br />comply with the Constitution and Laws of North Carolina,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of
<br />the County of Lee as follows:
<br />(1) The question whether the qualified voters of the
<br />County of Lee shall approve or disapprove (1) the indebtedness
<br />to be incurred by the issuance of the bonds of the County of Lee
<br />authorized by the bond order described in the notice hereinafter
<br />set forth, and (2) the levy of taxes for the payment thereof, and
<br />(3) said bond order shall be ,submitted to the qualified voters of the
<br />County of Lee at a special election to be held in said County on
<br />September 17, 1968.
<br />(2) The Clerk of the Board of Commissioners is hereby
<br />authorized and directed to publish a notice of the submission of
<br />said questions at said Special Election in substantially the follow-
<br />ing form:
<br />COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH
<br />CAROLINA; NOTICE OF SPECIAL ELECTION
<br />TO BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 17, 1968
<br />NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that at a Special Election to be held in
<br />the County of Lee, North Carolina, on September 17, 1968, there will be submitted to
<br />the qualified voters of said County the question whether they shall approve or disapprove
<br />(1) the indebtedness to be incurred by the issuance of bonds of said County of the maximurr
<br />principal amount of $5, 000, 000, and (2) the levy of a tax for the payment of such bonds,
<br />and (3) the bond order entitled "Bond Order authorizing the issuance of $5, 000, 000 School
<br />Bonds of the County of Lee", adopted bythe Board of Commissioners on July 1, 1968, to
<br />authorize the issuance of said Bonds and the levy of such tax. The $5; 000, 000 bonds are
<br />authorized to finance the cost of erecting in the Lee County School Administrative Unit
<br />and in the Sanford City School Administrative Unit several new buildings to be used as
<br />school houses, school garages, physical education and vocational education buildings,
<br />teacherages and lunchrooms and othdr school plant facilities, and to reconstruct and
<br />enlarge, by the erection of additions, several existing buildings located in such unit
<br />and used for such purposes, and to acquire land, furnishings and equipment necessary
<br />for such new or reconstructed or enlarged buildings in order to enable the County of
<br />Lee, as an administrative agency of the public school system of the State of North
<br />Carolina to maintain public schools in said school administrative unit for the nine
<br />months' school term prescribed by law, and that it will be necessary to expend for
<br />such purposes not less than,$5, 000, 000, in addition to other moneys which have been
<br />made available therefor, $2, 000, 000 of such moneys to be expended for such purposes
<br />in the Lee County School Administrative Unit and $3, 000, 000 of such moneys to be
<br />expended for such purposes in the Sanford City School Administrative Unit.
<br />The ballot-labels for the voting machines to be used at said election
<br />shall contain the words "For the bond order authorizing $5, 000, 000 bonds to finance
