G. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: June 7, 2010 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Architectural Services Agreement with Moseley Architects for Jail <br />Improvements <br />DEPARTMENT: Jail/Administration <br />CONTACT PERSON: Kent Everett/John Crumpton <br />REQUEST: Approve architectural services agreement with Moseley Architects <br />for Improvement designs at the Lee County Jail <br />SUMMARY: Architectural services are needed for the design and modifications <br />of the jail so that access to daylight per state jail standards can be met. In addition, grants have <br />been received for improvements to the jail which include constructing a padded cell which needs <br />architectural design per state standards. Moseley Architects has also included a proposal to <br />design improvements to the basement at the Courthouse which would expand the Sheriffs office, <br />create an Emergency Operations Center, and provide an area for a 911 back-up center for the <br />Sanford/Lee County 911 system. This plan is needed for grant applications. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: $14,800 <br />ATTACHMENT(S): 1) Transmittal Letter and Documents from Moseley Architects <br />2) Information on the lighting issue in the Jail <br />3) Semiannual Inspection Report <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: NA <br />RECOMMENDATION: Award contract to Moseley Architect as presented. This firm has <br />experience in the Jail having reworked the security system there four years ago. <br />0 <br />
