G .f
LEE, COUNTY
Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow
LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
ITEM ABSTRACT ITEM NO II. D.
_ Information
Meeting Date: May 17, 2010 -Action Item
XX Consent Agenda
SUBJECT: Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant Annual Plan
DEPARTMENT: Department of Youth & Family Services
CONTACT PERSON: Brenda Potts
REQUEST: Accept award of the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant and
approve the Annual Plan for 2010-2011
SUMMARY: One of the major funding sources for Youth Services and the
Hillcrest Shelter is the Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant. At their April 26U' meeting, the
JCPC Board awarded 93% of their 2010-2011 funding to Youth Services and Hillcrest. They
placed 7% as unallocated funds in the event the State issues budget cuts.
The JCPC Grant is projected to be $170,285. Taking into consideration the 7% unallocated, the
agreement is for $158,365. This was the same process used in the 2009-10 budget and we have
since received the unallocated funds for last year. The required county match (30%) for that
amount of funding is $47,510. The local in-kind contribution for use of the building, alone, meets
the required match. After the final State budget is approved and the county budget is finalized, a
new program agreement revision will be made to show the final 2010-11 budget.
BUDGET IMPACT: The recommended county budget reflects $158,365 from JCPC for
FY 2010-11; therefore, the unallocated funds will not impact the proposed 2010-11 budget.
ATTACHMENT(S): JCPC Program is available in the Clerks Office for review
PUBLIC HEARING: No
PRIOR BOARD ACTION: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Approve Juvenile Crime Prevention Council Grant as presented
