Commissioner White moved that the monthly bills, as tabulated by the County Accountant and supported by purchase orders, be approved for payment. Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Chairman reported to the Board that the appraisal of the Court- house Annex and the Library Building, lad been received and were available for inspection by the Board at any time. Chairman reported he had received a letter from Hayes, Howell & Associates, regarding the Courthouse planning. After discussion, Commissioner McLeod moved that the. Architects be instructed to proceed with plans to renovate the Wilrik Building, to provide space for the Tax Collector's office, the County Accountant's office, the Tax Supervisor's office, the Building Inspector's office, the Veteran Service Officer's office, and the Social Security office, ,ova Or0Ek 5 Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and it was duly adopted by a majority vote. The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Henry Lee Cameron, requesting a deed to the one acre tract known as the Eliza Miller lands in Jonesboro Township. The Clerk presented the affidavit of H. M. Jackson, respecting the status of this title, which affidavit is as follows: I, H. M. Jackson, Attorney at Law, Sanford, North Carolina, being duly sworn, depose and say: That I know and am acquainted with the Eliza Miller one acre tract of land situated in Jonesboro Town- ship, Lee County, North Carolina. I recall at the sale of lands purchased for taxes held by Lee County, that W. W. Stedman.purchased said tract of land which was poorly described, from the County which conveyed the land to Mr. Stedman by its form deed. Some time thereafter, I purchased this tract of land from W. W. Stedman and subsequently sold it to Henry Lee Cameron. I delivered to Henry Lee Cameron the deed from the County to Stedman, the deed from Stedman and wife to me and a quitclaim deed from me and my wife to Cameron. The deed from the County to Stedman, according to my recollection, has never been recorded. The deed from Stedman to me was never recorded and the quitclaim
