No one voted against it. <br />Commissioner White moved that the monthly bills, as tabulated <br />by the County Accountant and supported by purchase orders, be approved for payment. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Chairman reported to the Board that the appraisal of the Court- <br />house Annex and the Library Building, lad been received and were available for <br />inspection by the Board at any time. <br />Chairman reported he had received a letter from Hayes, Howell <br />& Associates, regarding the Courthouse planning. After discussion, Commissioner <br />McLeod moved that the. Architects be instructed to proceed with plans to renovate <br />the Wilrik Building, to provide space for the Tax Collector's office, the County <br />Accountant's office, the Tax Supervisor's office, the Building Inspector's office, <br />the Veteran Service Officer's office, and the Social Security office, ,ova Or0Ek 5 <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and it was duly <br />adopted by a majority vote. <br />Messrs. McLeod, Wicker and Dotterer voted for said Resolution <br />and Messrs. Yow and White voted against it. <br />Commissioner McLeod moved that the Board accept the offer of <br />Merchants Parking Center, Inc., for ,the parking lot on Steele Street. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and it was adopted by <br />a majority vote. <br />Messrs. McLeod, White, Wicker and Dotterer voted for said <br />Resolution and Mr. Yow voted against it. <br />The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Henry Lee Cameron, <br />requesting a deed to the one acre tract known as the Eliza Miller lands in Jonesboro <br />Township. <br />The Clerk presented the affidavit of H. M. Jackson, respecting <br />the status of this title, which affidavit is as follows: <br />I, H. M. Jackson, Attorney at Law, Sanford, <br />North Carolina, being duly sworn, depose and say: <br />That I know and am acquainted with the Eliza <br />Miller one acre tract of land situated in Jonesboro Town- <br />ship, Lee County, North Carolina. I recall at the sale <br />of lands purchased for taxes held by Lee County, that <br />W. W. Stedman.purchased said tract of land which was <br />poorly described, from the County which conveyed the <br />land to Mr. Stedman by its form deed. Some time <br />thereafter, I purchased this tract of land from W. W. <br />Stedman and subsequently sold it to Henry Lee Cameron. <br />I delivered to Henry Lee Cameron the deed from the <br />County to Stedman, the deed from Stedman and wife to <br />me and a quitclaim deed from me and my wife to Cameron. <br />The deed from the County to Stedman, according to my <br />recollection, has never been recorded. The deed from <br />Stedman to me was never recorded and the quitclaim <br />
