BOOK i PACE280 <br />L <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF <br />COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE <br />COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />Tuesday, September 3, 1968 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, convened in the Commissioners' Room in the Lee County <br />Courthouse in Sanford, on Tuesday, September 3, 1968, at 10 o'clock a. m. <br />Those present when the meeting opened were! Chairman John E. Dotterer, Comm- <br />issioners Max McLeod, A. E. White and Franklin D. Wicker. Commissioner <br />Charles Robert Yow was absent. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business <br />was transacted: <br />The minutes of the meetings held on August 5th, 7th and 28th, <br />were approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Charles Robert Yow joined the meeting and <br />participated in the further deliberations of the Board. <br />Representatives of the Band Parents Association and the principal <br />of Central High School, appeared before the Board and requested assistance in obtain- <br />ing uniforms for members of the Band. After discussion, Commissioner McLeod <br />moved that the sum of $2, 000.00 be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in <br />the General Fund to the School Capital Outlay Fund, for the purpose of purchasing <br />Band uniforms. <br />Commissioner Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it <br />was unanimously adopted. <br />Messrs: McLeod, White, Wicker, Yow and Dotterer voted for <br />the resolution and no one voted against it. <br />Miss Mary Estelle Doyle, County Home Economist, appeared <br />before the Board and gave a report on the activities of her office. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip, County Agricultural Extension Chairman, <br />appeared before the Board and gave a report on the activities of the Extension <br />Department, and requested temporary clerical assistance. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Commissioner <br />White and duly adopted, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $400.00 from <br />the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund to the, Agricultural Extension Service <br />Fund, for the purpose of hiring temporary help and telephone service. <br />Messrs. McLeod, White, Wicker, Yow and Dotterer voted for said <br />resolution and no one voted against it. <br />
