He was furbished with the proper forms to petition for a high- <br />way improvement. <br />Commissioner McLeod reported on a request for road improvements on the <br />road to Lee's Chapel Church. After discussion, Commissioner McLeodmoved that the <br />State Highway Commission be requested to prepare the foundation of said road for <br />paving. Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon a vote itwas unanimously <br />adopted. <br />Commissioner McLeod reported he was still receiving calls from Mrs. <br />Pauline Hooker concerning her request for obtaining a state maintained road to her <br />home across the property of Mr. John Davenport and Mr. Pat Geer. <br />Chairman Dotterer complimented Mr. McLeod for his service to the Board <br />as Chairman of the Roads Committee. <br />Commissioner White moved that the tax books for the July 1, 1968 - June 30, <br />1969 fiscal year, be delivered to the Tax Collector and that the following order for <br />collection be adopted: <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />LEE COUNTY <br />TO THE TAX COLLECTOR OF LEE COUNTY: <br />You are hereby authorized, empowered and commanded <br />to collect the taxes set forth in the tax books, filed in the office <br />of the Tax Supervisor and in the tax receipt herewith delivered <br />to you, in the amounts and from the taxpayers likewise therein <br />set forth, and such taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien <br />on all real property of the respective taxpayers in Lee County <br />and this order shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, <br />require and enable you to levy on and sell any real or personal <br />property of such taxpayers, for and on account thereof, in <br />accordance with law. <br />WITNESS my hand and official seal, this 7th day of <br />October, 1968. <br />(Signed) John E.
