BOOK 7 PAGE 29 1 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that <br />the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, <br />if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the <br />State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission is hereby re- <br />quested to review the above described road, and to take over the road <br />for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner McLeod seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted. i <br />Mr. John Wood, County Electrical Inspector appeared before the Board <br />and presented his recommendations for renovating the electrical system at the <br />County Office Building. These were approved and the Clerk directed to advertise <br />for bids on the work. <br />Mr. Buck Coggin appeared before the Board and presented his recom- <br />mendations for heating and air conditioning the first two floors of the County <br />Office Building. These were approved and the Clerk was directed to advertise <br />for bids. <br />Mr. Sion H. Kelly, Clerk of the Superior Court, appeared before the <br />Board and requested an appropriation for salaries in his office for December 1, <br />1968. He also requested the use of the present Social Security office for storage <br />of Court records. Commissioner McLeod moved that the Clerk of Superior Coxr t <br />be authorized to store Court records in the room presently occupied by the <br />Social Security Administration and that the Commissioners' Room be made avail- <br />able to the Social Security Administration representati s until space can be <br />provided in the County Office Building. CommiasioneUM"Red the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon a motion of Commissioner Wicker, seconded by Commissioner <br />White, it was unanimously resolved to authorize the Clerk of Superior Court to <br />: -illrchase the necessary chairs and distribute for use in his office and for the use <br />of the Magistrates. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner <br />Wicker, it was resolved to appropriate $ '73.00 from the emergency <br />and contingency fund to the Clerk of Superior Court office fund for the purpose <br />of paying salaries for one day on the same basis as provided in the budget. <br />Messers. McLeod, White, Wicker, Yow and Dotterer voted for the resolution <br />and no one voted against it. <br />Mr. Tom Haislip, County Extension Chairman, appeared before the <br />Board and presented the statistical reports for his department. Mr. Haislip <br />advised the Board that Mr. Spurgeon-V. Hyder, Assistant Agriculturial Extension <br />Agent, had tendered his resignation to be effective November 15, 1968. Mr. <br />Hyder's letter was read to the Board and upon motion of Commissioner Wicker, <br />seconded by Commissioner Yow, it was unanimously resolved to accept Mr. <br />Hyder's resignation with regret. The Board commended Mr. Hyder's activities <br />during his stay in the county. <br />Mr. James Ll., Clark, County Tax Supervisor, appeared before the <br />Board and gave his recommendations and appointments for tax linters and farm <br />census enumerators for the 1969 tax listing.
