~ <br />BOOK 7 PAA05 <br />All of the District Court judges appeared before the Board. After discussion <br />with the Board of Commissioners, Chief Judge Robert B. Morgan, Sr. advised the <br />Board that the judges would prefer to utilize the existing courtroom rather than <br />temporary quarters in the courthouse annex during the time the new courtroom was <br />being prepared. <br />Natham Crissman, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board and presented <br />a report of his collections for the preceding month. Upon motion of Commissioner. <br />-White, seconded by Commissioner Gordon Wicker and unanimously adopted, the Tax <br />Collector was authorized to publish an ad, asking; payment of current levy in the <br />month of December. <br />Magistrate Max McLeod appeared before the Board and requested permission <br />for the Magistrates to use the filing cabinet presently situated in the Commissioners <br />room pending receipt of the file cabinet from the State authorities. The Board granted <br />permission for such use. <br />The minutes of the November 22 special meeting of the Board were read and <br />approved and ordered recorded <br />Chairman Dotterer presented the Grand jury report which was discussed by <br />the members of the Board. <br />The report of the jail Inspector was read to the Board by the Chairman. <br />Chairman Dotterer announced the following appointments and assignments <br />of duties: <br />Duty <br />Fire Commissioner <br />Law Enforcement Agencies <br />Roads <br />Personnel- <br />Gas Storage <br />Wilrik Building Trustee <br />Ambulance <br />Armory <br />Finance and Tax Offices <br />Courthouse Annex <br />Courthouse <br />Welfare Building <br />Register of Deeds <br />Health and Welfare Buildings <br />Library <br />Health Department <br />Commissioner <br />F. Wicker <br />Dotterer <br />Dotterer <br />The Clerk was instructed to inquire of Holt Truck & Tractor Company when <br />delivery could be expected of the new ambulance. <br />The Chairman read to the Board a letter of Mr. Stanley Winborne, Jr. in which <br />he stated that he could not serve on the County Park & Recreation Comnuttee. <br />The Board then proceeded to conduct informal bidding for the construction of <br />a chain-link fence, six feet high with nine guage wire, to go around the gas so rage <br />area. The bids received were as follows: Carolina Builders Corporation - $1,279-50; <br />Allison Fence Company - $1, 405.00; and Sears, Roebuck & Company - $1,258. 03. <br />Commissioner Joyce moved that the low bid of Sears, Roebuck & Company in the <br />amount of $1, 258. 05 be accepted and that the sum of $1, 258.05 be appropriated from <br />the unappropriated surplus in the general fund to the courthouse fund for the purpose <br />of installing said fence. Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon a roll- <br />call vote, it was unanimously adopted. Messrs. Joyce, White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker, <br />and Dotterer all voted for it and none voted against it. <br />- 3 - <br />
