BOOK' ( PAf313 <br />System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established <br />by the State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested <br />to review the above described road, and to take over the road for main- <br />tenance if it meets established standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Joyce seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Clerk presented to the Board the correspondence received concerning <br />the blanket bond for county employees. This bond covers all employees who are <br />not required by law to furnish individual bond to qualify for office and does not <br />cover the treasurer or tax collector by whatever title known. <br />The Chairman reported that a binder had been received from D. F. Harris <br />& Sons, Inc. for the county property. The reason for the binder was that the Agent <br />w as waiting for the new rates on the county's property. Chairman reminded the <br />Board that the property acquired from the Surgical Clinic would become the County's <br />responsibility on the 1st of February and that it would have to be insured. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker reported to the Board that the monthly <br />allocations to the Volunteer Fire Departments needed to be increased to enable <br />the departments to consolidate their insurance program. Upon motion of Commis- <br />sioner Gordon Wicker, seconded by Commissioner Joyce, it was unanimously <br />resolved to raise the monthly payment to each department by $30.00 and the sum <br />of $900.00 wasappropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the general fund to <br />the fire department account for this purpose. The roll call vote was as follows: <br />I, Joyce,, White, F.. Wicker, G.. Wicker and Dotterer know none. <br />v 91-0 <br />The monthly bills as tabulated by the county accountant was presented and <br />reviewed and upon motion of Commissioner Joyce, seconded by Commissioner <br />G. Wicker, it was resolved to pay said bills. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Joyce, it <br />was resolved to appropriate the sum of $35.00 for the purchase of a typewriter <br />stand for use in the Magistrates Courtroom. Messrs. Joyce,. White, F. Wicker, <br />G. Wicker and Dotterer all voted for the motion, no one voted against it. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff, was presented to the Board. <br />The Chairman reported on the letters received acknowledging and thanking <br />the Board for the Christmas baskets from various employees. <br />The written report of the electrical inspector was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of the tax collector was presented to the Board. A draft <br />of an ad:'. cautioning tax payers to avoid penalty deadline was approved for publication. <br />Commissioner F. Wicker reported on the progress of the installation of the <br />gas tank and the improvement of the site. <br />The written report of the Board of Veterans Affairs was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of the tax collector as to the delinquent accounts which <br />needed tax foreclosure proceeding instituted was presented to the Board for its <br />consideration. <br />- 2 - <br />
