fy005 7 PAPl 332 <br />Commissioner Gordon A.. Wicker presented petitions requesting improvement <br />of the following named roads: (a) Secondary Road 1434, known as Dr. Hunter's <br />Poultry Farm Road; (b) Secondary Road No. 1425, known as Olive Siding Road; <br />(c) Secondary Road 1503 and part of 1504, known as Hall Road; and Secondary Road <br />1431, known as Deep River School Road. After discussion and review, Commissioner <br />Gordon. A.. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution with respect to each <br />of said roads: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has <br />investigated the condition of the above described roads which are now a part of the <br />system of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated <br />in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said <br />road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road <br />be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County Commissioners <br />hereby approved and request that the State Highway Commission make the following <br />improvements in the above described road: paved. <br />Commissioner White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The monthly bills as tabulated by the county accountant was presented and <br />reviewed. Commissioner White moved that the bills be approved for payment and <br />the motion was duly seconded and upon a vote, was unanimously adopted. <br />A delegation of Constables appeared before the Board. Mr. Lux Lett served <br />as their spokesman and requested that the County provide for some expense for <br />holding their office for which no fees were provided under the Court Reform Act. <br />No formal action was taken and the Board advised the Constables that it would <br />investigate the matter. <br />Mr. Dick Edwards, an engineer of P. H. Brown & Associates appeared before <br />the Board and reviewed the county wide water survey prepared by his organization. <br />Members of the County Planning Board were also present during this presentation. <br />There was a discussion between the Board of Commissioners and members of <br />the County Planning Board about the residential building code but no action was taken <br />at this meeting. Mr. Mack Condor of the Lee County Planning Board requested the <br />Board of Commissioners to make provision in the forthcoming budget to initiate <br />sanitary land filled operators in the county. <br />Commissioner White left the meeting. <br />Sheriff D. F. Holder appeared before the Board and requested that six members <br />of his department be raised one step in the salary range and that no additional <br />appropriation was necessary for this purpose. Upon motion made, seconded and <br />duly adopted, one step raises were authorized for: James S.. Holt, James A. Stone, <br />Norman Stone, Bobby W. Moore, James F. Tomlinson, and Glenn E.. Phillips. <br />Mr. Huitt Reep, Administrator of the Lee County Hospital appeared before the <br />Board and presented an estimated budget for the operations of Lee County Hospital <br />for the period of 1 October, 1968 - 30 September 1969. <br />Vice Chairman Wi cker advised the Board that the administrator's salary with the <br />Mental Health Department had been set at $11, 808 and that this had been approved by <br />the Harnett County Board of Commissioners and since Lee County had made provisions <br />for this in its budget, it would be appropriate on motion to be made stating the <br />administrator's salary at that figure retroactive to September 5, 1968. Commissioner <br />Joyce moved that the administrator of the Mental Health Department's salary be set <br />- 3 - <br />
