BOOK / PACE337 <br />The Board recessed at 3:00 o'clock P. M. to sit as a Board of Equalization <br />and Review. <br />The meeting reconvened at 5:00 o'clock P. M. with all Commissioners present. <br />Commissioner A. E. White left the meeting and did not participate in the <br />further deliberations of the Board. <br />The Chairman advised the Board of the Library Board's plans for a future <br />building and that Board's requeat for authority to select an architect to select plans <br />for the proposed building. Commissioner Frank Wicker moved that the Library <br />Board be permitted to select an architect provided that there be no expense to the <br />County unless a federal grant is secured. Commissioner Joyce seconded the motion <br />and it was adopted by a vote of three to one. Commissioner Gordon Wicker asked <br />that he be recorded as voting no. <br />Commissioner Joyce moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County <br />of Lee that Dr. J. M. McKinnon, a licensed veterinarian, is hereby <br />appointed rabies inspector, to conduct a campaign of vaccination, <br />pursuant to Part 7,. Article 37, Chapter 106 of the General Statutes and <br />the vaccination fee is hereby set at $2.00 for each dog so vaccinated. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioners Gordon Wicker and Joyce reported on a meeting with the <br />City authorities pertaining to the Good Neighbor Council. <br />Commissioner Frank Wicker moved that the recommendations of the <br />Personnel Committee be accepted and that all salaries be computed on the basis <br />of one:grade:below standard in consideration of the budget for the fiscal year ending <br />July 31, 1970. Gordon Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously <br />adopted.` <br />The Board authorized Commissioner Gordon Wicker and Chairman Dotterer <br />to select the colors of improvements in the new courtroom. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker moved that the County Accountant be authorized <br />to purchase a new check writer. Commissioner Joyce seconded the motion and upon <br />a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman advised the Board that a boiler inspection report had been <br />received.- "The Clerk was instructed to send a copy to the?Superintendent of Building <br />and Grounds. <br />The Chairman advised the Board that the convention of the North Carolina <br />Association of County Commissioners would be held in Asheville on -July? 6, 1969. <br />The Board authorized the County Accountant to take bids for gasoline. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Joyce, seconded by Commissioner Gordon <br />Wicker, it was unanimously resolved to pay the gas bill at the Armory from the <br />funds on hand from the recreation program. <br />- 4 - <br />
