BOOK 7 PAGE 336 Mrs. Beatrice Fields appeared before the Board and presented the recommendations of the County Personnel Committee. Mr. Bill Bryan appeared before the Board and presented a report on the activities of the Ambulance Department and of the Lee County Rescue Squad. Chairman Dotterer reported on his meeting with Mr. Laird Harrington,. President of the Rescue Squad and gave their recommendations for fees to be charged for ambulance service. Commissioner White moved that the following be adopted as the charges for ambulance service from and after May 1, 1969: General Charges: 1. all calls within Lee County, including the City of Sanford - $20.00 2. trip which goes outside of Lee County - $20.00 plus $1.50 per mile one way for miles traveled outside of the county 3. waiting time - $5.00 per hour or fraction thereof after the first hour Specific Destinations: N.. C. Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill, N. C. - $30.00 Duke Hospital, Durham, N. C. - $35.00 Veterans Hospital, Durham, N. C. - $35.00 Maietheson Clinic, Pittsboro, N. C. - $25.00 Chatham Hospital,. Siler City, N. C. - $25.00 Moore Memorial,. Pinehurst, N. C. - $30.00 Womack Army Hospital, Ft. Bragg, N. C. - $30.00 Cape Fear Valley Hospital, Fayetteville, N. C. - $35.00 Highsmith Hospital, Fayetteville, N. C. - $35.00 Veterans Hospital, Fayetteville, N. C. - $35.00 Wake Memorial Hospital, Raleigh, N. C. $35.00 Rex Hospital, Raleigh, N. Commissioner Frank Wicker moved to amend the motion to make the charges for a trip within the City of Sanford $15.00. Commissioner Gordon Wicker seconded this motion. The Board voted on the amend- ment first and the amendment failed by a three to two vote. The Clerk was authorized to see that change in rates were advertised prior to the effective date. The meeting recessed for lunch at 12:40 P. M. The meeting reconvened at 2:00 P.M. with all members present. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Mr. Fletcher Harris appeared before the Board and reviewed the County's insurange program. Commissioner Gordon Wicker moved that the Sanford General Insurance Agencies, Inc. be designated as the Board's advisory Committee on insurance matters.. Commissioner. White seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Joyce moved that the County add general liability coverage to its insurance program. Commissioner Frank Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Frank Wicker was requested to determine if the volunteer firemen would receive greater benefits under the County's workmen compensation program or under a private health and accident policy. - 3 -
