Joyce moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has considered the petitions of the Lee County Board of Education and the Sanford City Board of Education for additional funds; AND WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has heard the repre- sentatives of both School Boards explain the nature of the program presented and the financial needs of each of the administrative units; AND WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is of the opinion that each administrative unit has shown a necessity to add or supplement items of expen- ditures in the current expense fund; AND WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is of the opinion, in view of the number of administrative units, the programs offered by each, and the tax base available to each, that peculiar local conditions demand the adding or supplementing of items of expenditures in the current expense fund; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, that it exercise the authority conferred upon it under N. C. G. S. 115-80 (a), to approve the proposed and requested expenditures for adding or supplementing items of expenditures in the current expense fund, including additional personnel and/or supplements to the salaries of personnel, as set forth in the budget estimate and to make a sufficient tax levy to provide the funds so approved. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Joyce, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to pay the current bills as listed by the County Accountant and supported by purchase orders. Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was unanimously RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on May-5, 1969, and to order the same recorded. Vice Chairman Franklin D. Wicker reported that the written report of Mr. Thomas Haislip, Chairman of the County Agricultural Extension Service, had been received. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution with respect to Pioneer Drive and Meadow- brook Street in Country Lane Acres Subdivision: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Comm- issioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System.
