soon 7 pw 348 <br />Commissioner William B. Joyce moved the adoption <br />of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners has <br />considered the petitions of the Lee County <br />Board of Education and the Sanford City Board <br />of Education for additional funds; AND WHEREAS, <br />the Board of Commissioners has heard the repre- <br />sentatives of both School Boards explain the <br />nature of the program presented and the financial <br />needs of each of the administrative units; AND <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners is of the <br />opinion that each administrative unit has shown <br />a necessity to add or supplement items of expen- <br />ditures in the current expense fund; AND WHEREAS, <br />the Board of Commissioners is of the opinion, in <br />view of the number of administrative units, the <br />programs offered by each, and the tax base available <br />to each, that peculiar local conditions demand the <br />adding or supplementing of items of expenditures <br />in the current expense fund; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, that <br />it exercise the authority conferred upon it <br />under N. C. G. S. 115-80 (a), to approve the <br />proposed and requested expenditures for adding <br />or supplementing items of expenditures in the <br />current expense fund, including additional <br />personnel and/or supplements to the salaries <br />of personnel, as set forth in the budget <br />estimate and to make a sufficient tax levy to <br />provide the funds so approved. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion <br />and upon a vote, it was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by <br />Commissioner Joyce, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to <br />pay the current bills as listed by the County Accountant and <br />supported by purchase orders. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner White, seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was unanimously RESOLVED to <br />approve the minutes of the regular meeting held on May-5, 1969, <br />and to order the same recorded. <br />Vice Chairman Franklin D. Wicker reported that the <br />written report of Mr. Thomas Haislip, Chairman of the County <br />Agricultural Extension Service, had been received. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved the adoption of <br />the following resolution with respect to Pioneer Drive and Meadow- <br />brook Street in Country Lane Acres Subdivision: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has <br />been filed with the Board of County Comm- <br />issioners of the County of Lee requesting <br />that the above described road, the location <br />of which has been indicated in red on the <br />attached map, be added to the Secondary Road <br />System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />is of the opinion that the above described road <br />should be added to the Secondary Road System, if <br />the road meets minimum standards and criteria <br />established by the State Highway Commission for <br />the addition of roads to the System. <br />Page 2 <br />
