6ov 7 pnr 381 <br />Mr. Forrest Stevens of the Board of Directors of the Lee County Hospital <br />appeared before the Board and presented the recommendations of the Board of <br />Trustees for persons to fill the vacancies which will occur on the Hospital Board <br />of Directors in December. <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, Tax Collector, appeared before the Board and pre- <br />sented a report of his collections for the previous month. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Perry White, it was unanimously RESOLVED to set the fee for services of the <br />Tax Attorney which is billed as an item of costs in tax actions at $35. 00. <br />Mr. E. M. Underwood, Jr., County Auditor, appeared before the Board <br />and advised the Board that the new death benefits available to County Employees <br />would cost approximately $1,200.00 per year rather than $120.00 as had been <br />previously reported to the Board. Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, it was RESOLVED <br />to participate in the program making available death benefits to. County Employees <br />and there was appropriated for such purpose the sum of $1, 200. 00 from the un- <br />appropriated surplus in the General Fund to be distributed in the General Fund <br />and Welfare Fund, in accordance with the requirements of the departments which <br />have employees. The Roll Call Vote was as follows: <br />AYE: P. Whitey F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />NO: None <br />Mr.. E. M. Underwood, Jr., County Auditor, distributed copies of the <br />Audit of the School Systems to the members of the Board. <br />The written report from the Lee County Planning Council for Mental <br />Retardation was presented to the Board. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker,, seconded by Commissioner <br />Perry White, it was RESOLVED to appropriate the sum of $ ]80, DO from the <br />unappropriated surplus in the General Fund derived from non-tax sources to the <br />Sandhill Area Development Association, for the purpose of aiding and encouraging <br />agricultural industries and business prospects of Lee County. The Roll Call <br />Vote was as follows: <br />AYE: P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />NO--j None <br />The Ambulance Service submitted a report indicating that Edward Lee <br />Jones of Globe Street in Sanford, North Carolina, was making unwarranted use <br />and demands upon the Ambulance Service. It was RESOLVED that the Ambulance <br />Service be instructed to answer all calls but to take this patient only to the Lee <br />County Hospital unless otherwise directed by a physician. <br />The written report of the Agricultural Extension Service was submitted to <br />the Board. <br />The Quarterly Report of the Veteran's Service Officer, on behalf of the <br />Board of Veteran's Affairs, was submitted to the Board. <br />Chairman Dotterer reported that communication had been received from the <br />State Board of Alcoholic Beverage Control, reporting that "The Pantry" and <br />Page 4 <br />
