BOOK 7 PACE 379 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above <br />described Road which is now a part of the system of roads <br />maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is <br />indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said County, <br />it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to <br />better serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of <br />County Commissioners hereby approved and request that the State <br />Highway Commission make the following improvements in the <br />above described road: Paving. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />Resolution with respect to adding the Roads in Cool Springs Estate Subdivision <br />to the State Maintained Secondary Road System: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the <br />Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting <br />that the above described road, the location of which has been in- <br />dicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road <br />System; and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the <br />opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secon- <br />dary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and cri- <br />teria established by the State Highway Commission for the addition <br />of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County <br />Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State Highway Comm- <br />ission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and <br />to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established <br />standards and criteria. <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Elon Dickens appeared and presented a petition requesting the <br />installation of safety lights at the Seaboard Coast Line crossing on Secondary <br />Road No. 1173. Commissioner Perry Whitemoved that the State Highway <br />Commission be requested to investigate the crossing and advise the Commission <br />what could be done to improve the warning system at the crossing. Commissioner <br />Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The Board instructed the Clerk to invite Mr. W. B. Joyce, State Highway <br />Commissioner, to appear at thenext regular meeting. <br />The Chairman announced that the time for receiving bids for police type <br />station wagons had expired, and proceeded to open the bids received.
