BOOK 7 PACE 379 WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above described Road which is now a part of the system of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said County, it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County Commissioners hereby approved and request that the State Highway Commission make the following improvements in the above described road: Paving. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the following Resolution with respect to adding the Roads in Cool Springs Estate Subdivision to the State Maintained Secondary Road System: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been in- dicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secon- dary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and cri- teria established by the State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State Highway Comm- ission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Mr. Elon Dickens appeared and presented a petition requesting the installation of safety lights at the Seaboard Coast Line crossing on Secondary Road No. 1173. Commissioner Perry Whitemoved that the State Highway Commission be requested to investigate the crossing and advise the Commission what could be done to improve the warning system at the crossing. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The Board instructed the Clerk to invite Mr. W. B. Joyce, State Highway Commissioner, to appear at thenext regular meeting. The Chairman announced that the time for receiving bids for police type station wagons had expired, and proceeded to open the bids received. The bids were as follows: Page 2
