Mayberry <br />Miss Diana Van Bounine <br />Mrs. Esther Burke <br />Dr. John Dotterer <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Perry White, seconded by <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, the appointment of Mr. Walter Scoggins, <br />as County Electrical Inspector, at a salary of $1, 500. 00 a year with mileage <br />at the rate of 10~ a mile, was ratified and approved upon a unanimous vote. <br />Chairman Dotterer reported that the County School Board had <br />appointed two members to serve on a committee to work on school affairs with <br />the Commissioners, but no report had been received from the Sanford City <br />Board of Education. <br />Chairman Dotterer appointed Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker <br />and himself to serve as the representatives of the Board to meet with this <br />committee. <br />The Clerk reported on conversation with Mrs. Kemp Willett <br />relative to the purchase of land adjoining the Lee County Jail. The Clerk was <br />instructed to find out what rental Mrs. Willett wanted for the use of the property <br />since she did not care to sell at the present time. <br />The Clerk read a letter from Mr. Robert Harris, City Manager, <br />requesting appropriation from the County to help to fray the expense of the <br />Police protection furnished to the Central High School. No action was taken <br />upon this request. <br />There was a discussion about renovating two additional floors in <br />the County Office Building, but no action was taken. <br />A delegation from the Central Carolina Technical Institute, appeared <br />before the Board and requested that additional land be made available to them for <br />expansion of their plant and programs. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved <br />that the County convey to the Technical Institute, all of the property lying on the <br />north side of Nash Street and the Pumping Station Road and south of the Lee <br />County Board of Education Garage Property, at its appraised value, and that <br />the County reserve the right to use the gasoline depot recently constructed on this <br />property. Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a roll call <br />vote, it was unanimously adopted as follows: <br />Page 3 <br />
