BOOK 7 PACE 384 <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners <br />of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the <br />above described road which is now a part of the system <br />of roads maintained by the State Highway Commission, <br />and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the ser- <br />vices rendered by said road and the traffic demands of <br />said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be <br />improved in order to better serve the interests of the <br />people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the <br />Board of County Commissioners hereby approved and <br />request that the State Highway Commission make the <br />following improvements in the above described road: <br />Paved. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and <br />upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />The minutes of the regular meeting held on October 6, 1969, <br />were approved and ordered recorded. <br />Chairman Dotterer read a request for funds to extend a water <br />line to Castleberry's Warehouse. No action was taken. <br />Director L. L. Beckham of the Sanford - Lee County Civil <br />Defense Agency appeared before the Board and requested approval to store <br />hospital supplies in the New Hope School Building. The Board questioned <br />the security of the building but was assured it had been approved for such <br />purpose. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker moved that the Board's approval <br />be given for such transfer and storage. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker <br />seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner A. E. White, it was RESOLVED to authorize Mr. L. L. Beckham <br />to contact the Board of Commissioners of Harnett County to see if a Lee and <br />Harnett County Law Enforcement Planning Board could be created to develop <br />a planning program under the Governor's Committee on Law and Order. Mr. <br />Perry White abstained from the vote on this Resolution since he was not famiBar <br />with the program. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, seconded by <br />Commissioner A. E. White, it was RESOLVED to establish a Comprehensive <br />Planning Council in conjunction with Chatham, Harnett and Sampson Counties, <br />and to appoint to the Board of Directors of such council the following named <br />persons: <br />Robert Dalrymple <br />John Howard <br />President of Lee County Medical Society (Dr. James Gibson) <br />Mrs. Louise Dowdy <br />Dr. Charles Edrington <br />Chairman of the Board of Directors of Lee County Hospital, <br />Inc.
