BOOK 7 t Au 427 The Board next considered the subject of the acquisition of the Willett land immediately adjoining the County Jail and after discussion, in view of the needs for expanding the jail facilities and the fact that Federal funds are presently available both for planning and construction, and since assistance can be derived from the participation in the Law and Order Program sponsored by the State, and in view of the present need for additional space, Commissioner Frank D. Wicker moved that the County proceed to acquire the property, and if necessary, that condemnation action be commenced for this property. Commiss- ioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: Aye: P. White, F. Wicker and Dotterer Nay: G. Wicker The Chairman declared that the motion had carried and the resolution adopted. The Chairman read a letter from the Lee County Hospital requesting that the County take steps to re-imburse the hospital for the money they advanced for the purchase of the Buchanan property, the title to which went to the County. After discussion, Commissioner Perry White, moved that the sum of $37, 500. 00, be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund for the purchase of equipment to be used at the Lee County Hospital and that said equipment be leased to the operating agency of the Lee County Hospital under the same terms and con- ditions as the site and that other equipment was leased to such agency. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: Aye: P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer Nay: None The Chairman declared the motion carried and the resolution adopted. The Chairman called the Board's attention to the fact that they had received Notice of Intention to apply for ABC permits from Mr. T. Redin Campbell, Operator of the Variety Box, and from Mr. Lewis S. Mitchell, of Mitchell's of Sanford, Inc. The Clerk was authorized to, refer both notices to the Sheriff's De- partment for consideration and action as the Sheriff deems appropriate. The Board next received bids for the purchase of a riding mower and the bids received were as follows: Bidder Brand Bid Bid with Trade-In Dull Wheel Horse $ 822. 00 none Tri- County Tractor Ford 1,296.77 $ 850.00 Holt Cub 1, 362.75 650.00 Bright & Wi lliams Snapper 935.00 none The Board,-Aup.on motion made, seconded and duly adopted, accepted the low bid of Dull Equipment Company, to furnish a wheel horse riding mower for $822.00.
