BOOK 7 t Au 427 <br />The Board next considered the subject of the acquisition of the <br />Willett land immediately adjoining the County Jail and after discussion, in <br />view of the needs for expanding the jail facilities and the fact that Federal funds <br />are presently available both for planning and construction, and since assistance <br />can be derived from the participation in the Law and Order Program sponsored <br />by the State, and in view of the present need for additional space, Commissioner <br />Frank D. Wicker moved that the County proceed to acquire the property, and if <br />necessary, that condemnation action be commenced for this property. Commiss- <br />ioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: P. White, F. Wicker and Dotterer <br />Nay: G. Wicker <br />The Chairman declared that the motion had carried and the resolution <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman read a letter from the Lee County Hospital requesting <br />that the County take steps to re-imburse the hospital for the money they advanced <br />for the purchase of the Buchanan property, the title to which went to the County. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Perry White, moved that the sum of $37, 500. 00, <br />be appropriated from the unappropriated surplus in the General Fund for the purchase <br />of equipment to be used at the Lee County Hospital and that said equipment be leased <br />to the operating agency of the Lee County Hospital under the same terms and con- <br />ditions as the site and that other equipment was leased to such agency. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a <br />roll call vote, the "ayes" and "nayes" were as follows: <br />Aye: P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />Nay: None <br />The Chairman declared the motion carried and the resolution <br />adopted. <br />The Chairman called the Board's attention to the fact that they had <br />received Notice of Intention to apply for ABC permits from Mr. T. Redin Campbell, <br />Operator of the Variety Box, and from Mr. Lewis S. Mitchell, of Mitchell's of <br />Sanford, Inc.
