'BOOK 7 au 429 <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented a Petition <br />requesting improvement of Secondary Road No. 1306, in Pocket Township. <br />After discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above <br />described road which is now a part of the system of roads <br />maintained by. the State Highway Commission, and which is <br />indicated in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the <br />services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of <br />said County, it is deemed necessary that said road be <br />improved in order to better serve the interests of the <br />people of this County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, Be it resolved, and the <br />Board of County Commissioners hereby approved and <br />request that the State Highway Commission make the <br />following improvements in the above described road: <br />Black-topped. <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />The Chairman reported that he had received a letter from the <br />ABC Board Commission notifying them that Mr. T. Redin Campbell had applied <br />fora permit. The Board noted that this was the same application which had been <br />presented at the previous meeting and which had been reported to the Sheriff's <br />Department for action, if necessary. <br />The Chairman distributed the report received from the County <br />Accountant on the fees of the Electrical Inspector. This report had been requested <br />at a previous meeting. <br />The Board proceeded to open bids for a refrigerator to be installed <br />at the Lee County jail and the bids received were as follows: <br />Bidder Type Price <br />Kimbrell's, Inc. Philco 16 cu. ft. $308.00 (plus <br />tax) <br />Dossenbach's Finer Furniture Kelvinator 16.7 cu. ft. $287.00 (plus <br />tax) <br />Jones-Lee Furniture, Inc. G. E. 17 cu. ft. $389.00 <br />Sanford Radio & TV Company G. E. 17 cu. ft. $275.00 <br />Sprott Bros. Furniture Co. Westinghouse 17 cu. ft. $379. 95 <br />Mann's Appliances Hot Point, 17. 6 cu. ft. $267. 82 <br />Buchanan's Whirlpool 17 ft. $256.47 <br />After consideration of the bids, Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker <br />moved that the Board accept the low bid of Buchanan's for the purchase of the <br />refrigerator. Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that he had been in <br />conversation with Mrs. Kemp Willett about the land adjoining the Lee County <br />Jail and that she would be back in touch with him by June 15, 1970, at which time <br />he expects her to name a price. <br />
