0 <br />BOOK 7 PAGE 437 <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker seconded the motion and it was <br />unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented a petition requesting <br />the paving of 840 feet of Secondary Road No. 1349 known as Tanglewood Drive. After <br />review and discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption of the following <br />resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of <br />the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above <br />described road which is now a part of the system of roads main- <br />tained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated <br />in red on the attached map; and <br />WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services <br />rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is <br />deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better <br />serve the interests of the people of this county. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board <br />of County Commissioners hereby approved and request that the <br />State Highway Commission make the following improvements in <br />the above described road: <br />Paved. <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and it was unanimously <br />adopted upon a vote. <br />Mr. Harry Wicker, Director of the Department of Social Services, <br />appeared before the Board and reviewed the classifications of personnel in his department <br />and its budget request. Various tentative amendments were made to the budget request <br />as it was reviewed in detail. <br />Mr. O. W. Strickland of the Sanitary Engineering Division, State Board <br />of Health, appeared before the Board and presented his recommendations for an initial <br />solid waste disposal plan for Lee County. After discussion among the Board members, <br />the Chairman appointed Commissioner William H. Cooper to..serve a' -liaison with the <br />City of Sanford officials on this program. <br />Mr. Bob Upchurch of the Department of Local Affairs and Mr. Mack <br />Conder of the Lee County Planning Board appeared before the Board and presented a <br />proposal for a capitalimprovements budget which report was received by the Board. <br />Upon motion made, seconded, and duly adopted, it was resolved to <br />adjourn the meeting to the Commissioners' Room, County Office Building, at 10:00 <br />o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 1970. <br />The meeting adjourned in accordance with the resolution. <br />7 ,ty Zug Chairman <br />John E.
