aooK 7 PAu 447 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OE COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF LEE, NORTH CAROLINA 7 JULY °1970 The regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Lee, North Carolina, met in the Commissioners' Room of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 10:00 o'clock a.m. on Monday, July 7th, 1970, the same being the hour, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call the following answered present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker, and John E. Dotterer. The Chairman declared a quorum present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Mr. Ed Gunther of Cumnock appeared before the Board and presented a petition requesting the hard surfacing of Secondary Road No. 1450 known as the Detour Road in Cumnock. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above described road which is now a part of the system of roads main- tained by the State Highway Commission, and which is indicated in red on the attached map; and WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County Commissioners hereby approve and request that the State Highway Commission make the following improvements in the above described road: Hard surface. Commissioner William H. Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Chairman Dotterer reported the State Highway Commission had reported they were unable to secure the signature of Mrs. Sara Jackson, a property owner, and therefore could not complete the project on Pine and Ridge Streets in the Grape Vine- yard section. Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker stated he wouldilook into the matter. A question was raised about the sign on the County parking lot next to the Methodist Church. However when it was determined that the sign was on the property of Wilkins Supply Company, no action was taken.
