Wicker moved that the Board adopt a resolution of respect to John D. Pegram for the services he had rendered to the people of Lee County in his work with the mentally retarded children. Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. The County Attorney reported on the status of the negotiations with the City upon an agreement about water line extensions and also gave a report on the meeting held with respect to Countywide Recreation. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the sum of $450. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Department of Social Services for the use of that department, in carrying on the activities and programs of the Governor's Committee on Aging. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported on the activities of the Sandhills Community Action Program. Commissioners William H. Cooper and Perry White reported on the activities of the Lee County Sheltered Workshop. Chairman Dotterer reminded the Commissioners that they were invited to participate in the activities of the Broadway Centennial at 2 o'clock p. m. on Saturday, October 10th, 1970. Upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, it was RESOLVED to adjourn the meeting until 10 o'clock a. m., on October 19, 1970, at the Commissioners Room in the County Office Building.
