BOX 7 nT 475 <br />The written report of the County Agricultural Service was presented <br />to the Board and distributed to the members. <br />The written report of the Sheriff's Department, on its activities in <br />August-September, was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of the program conducted at the Happy Day Camp <br />for mentally retarded children was presented to the Board. <br />The written report of the program conducted at the Happy Day Camp <br />for mentally retarded children was presented to theBoard. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker moved that the Board adopt a <br />resolution of respect to John D. Pegram for the services he had rendered to <br />the people of Lee County in his work with the mentally retarded children. <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously <br />adopted. <br />The County Attorney reported on the status of the negotiations with the <br />City upon an agreement about water line extensions and also gave a report on the <br />meeting held with respect to Countywide Recreation. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the sum of $450. 00 be <br />appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Department of <br />Social Services for the use of that department, in carrying on the activities and <br />programs of the Governor's Committee on Aging. Commissioner Franklin D. <br />Wicker seconded the motion and upon a roll call vote it was unanimously adopted. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported on the activities of the <br />Sandhills Community Action Program. <br />Commissioners William H. Cooper and Perry White reported on the <br />activities of the Lee County Sheltered Workshop. <br />Chairman Dotterer reminded the Commissioners that they were invited <br />to participate in the activities of the Broadway Centennial at 2 o'clock p. m. on <br />Saturday, October 10th, 1970. <br />Upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, it was RESOLVED to <br />adjourn the meeting until 10 o'clock a. m., on October 19, 1970, at the <br />Commissioners Room in the County Office Building. <br />There being no further business to come before said Session, it was <br />duly adjourned. <br />//yy John E.
