M BOOK 7 ?;,rn V3 N to employ Mary Justice Watson at a level two steps below that authorized in the County Pay Plan for a Deputy Tax Collector, her employment to be effective as of November lst, 1970. Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper,. seconded by Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to adopt the following order and to deliver the tax books to the Tax Collector in accordance therewith: NORTH CAROLINA LEE COUNTY TO THE TAX COLLECTOR OF LEE COUNTY: You are hereby authorized, empowered and commanded to collect the taxes set forth in the tax books filed in the office of the Tax Supervisor and in the tax receipts herewith delivered to you, in the amounts and from the taxpayers likewise therein set forth, and such taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien on all real property of the respective taxpayers in Lee County, and this order shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, require and enable you to levy on and sell any real or personal property of such taxpayers, for and on account thereof, in accordance with law. Cooper reported on the placing of pipe in the lot next to the County Jail. Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the low bid of the Roanoke Bridge & Iron Company, at the sum of $1, 292. 00, be accepted for the installation of the visiting room at the County Jail, and the Superintendent of Building and Grounds be authorized to proceed to have said visiting room completed and that the sum of $1, 200. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to the Jail Fund for this purpose. Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted as f ollow s : AYE: Cooper, P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer NO: None There was a discussion about the location and arrangements for a suitable office for the probation officers, but no formal action was taken. The county bills were reviewed and discussed and Commissioner Wicker reported on the adjustment of the water bill for the County office building.
