M <br />BOOK 7 ?;,rn V3 <br />N <br />to employ Mary Justice Watson at a level two steps below that authorized <br />in the County Pay Plan for a Deputy Tax Collector, her employment to be <br />effective as of November lst, 1970. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper,. seconded by <br />Commissioner Gordon A. Wicker, and unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED <br />to adopt the following order and to deliver the tax books to the Tax Collector <br />in accordance therewith: <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />LEE COUNTY <br />TO THE TAX COLLECTOR OF LEE COUNTY: <br />You are hereby authorized, empowered and <br />commanded to collect the taxes set forth in the tax books <br />filed in the office of the Tax Supervisor and in the tax <br />receipts herewith delivered to you, in the amounts and <br />from the taxpayers likewise therein set forth, and such <br />taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien on all real <br />property of the respective taxpayers in Lee County, and <br />this order shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, <br />require and enable you to levy on and sell any real or <br />personal property of such taxpayers, for and on account <br />thereof, in accordance with law. <br />WITNESS my hand and official seal, this 5th <br />day of October, 1970. <br />(Signed) John E. Hoyle <br />Clerk of Board <br />The minutes for the meetings held on September 8th, 1970 <br />and September 21st, 1970, were approved and ordered recorded. <br />. Commissioner William H. Cooper reported on the placing of pipe <br />in the lot next to the County Jail. <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper moved that the low bid of the <br />Roanoke Bridge & Iron Company, at the sum of $1, 292. 00, be accepted for <br />the installation of the visiting room at the County Jail, and the Superintendent <br />of Building and Grounds be authorized to proceed to have said visiting room <br />completed and that the sum of $1, 200. 00 be appropriated from the Emergency <br />and Contingency Fund to the Jail Fund for this purpose. Commissioner Perry <br />White seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted as <br />f ollow s : <br />AYE: Cooper, P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />NO: None <br />There was a discussion about the location and arrangements for a <br />suitable office for the probation officers, but no formal action was taken. <br />The county bills were reviewed and discussed and Commissioner <br />Wicker reported on the adjustment of the water bill for the County office <br />building.
