BOOK 7 pnn 472 <br />Commissioner Perry White seconded the motion and upon a vote, <br />it was unanimously adopted. <br />Mr. Hal T. Siler of the Sanford Chamber of Commerce, appeared <br />before the Board and discussed the development of a historical brochure about <br />Lee County, primarily for the distribution to school children who write in <br />requesting data about the County. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker and Mr. L. L. Beckham, Civil <br />Defense Director, reported on the meeting of the Regional Law and Order <br />Committee. <br />Mr. L. L. Beckham, Director of the Civil Defense Agency, appeared <br />before the Board and requested the Board to pay to the Sanford Herald, the sum of <br />$747. 30, for publication of the Civil Defense Supplement which was distributed in <br />Lee County. These funds will be reimbursed to the County by the Federal Govern- <br />ment. Upon motion made, seconded and duly adopted, it was RESOLVED to <br />authorize the payment of $747. 30 from the Emergency and Contingency Fund to <br />the Sanford Herald for publication of the Civil Defense instructional pamphlet. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYE: Cooper, P. White, F. Wicker, G. Wicker and Dotterer <br />NO: None <br />Mr. Nathan Crissman, County Tax Collector, appeared before the <br />Board and reported on his collections for the preceding month. Mr. Crissman <br />also presented his settlement of the 1969 Tax levy. H. Cooper, it was unanimously <br />RESOLVED to accept the settlement as presented by Mr. Crissman. Upon <br />motion of Commissioner Perry White, seconded by Commissioner W. H. <br />Cooper, it was RESOLVED to authorize, empower and direct the Tax Collector <br />to collect all back taxes and in particular but not limited to, the 1969 levy for <br />which he had just made settlement. There was a general discussion about <br />discounts, penalties and advertising but no formal action was taken. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Franklin D.
