J/ -7 4 <br />. 6~OK ~ PkGE <br />MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR <br />MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br />October 19, 1970 <br />The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee <br />County, North Carolina, met in the Commissioner's room of the County Office <br />Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at <br />10:00 o'clock a. m., on Monday, October 19, 1970, the same being the hour, <br />date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. The Chairman <br />called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answered present: <br />William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker and <br />John E. Dotterer. <br />The Chairman declared everyone present and the meeting open for <br />the transaction of business. <br />Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was <br />transacted: <br />Mr. W. H. Ray, Chairman of the Lee County Board of Elections, <br />appeared before the Board and requested the authorization to employ a full time <br />employee for the registration of voters and that there were sufficient funds in <br />the budget at the present time to finance such employment. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, <br />it was unanaimously RESOLVED to authorize the employment of a full time <br />employee by the Board of Elections. <br />The minutes of the meeting for October 5th, 1970, were <br />approved and ordered recorded. <br />Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that the approval and forwards <br />ing of the Request for Addition of Humber Street Extension to the State Maintained <br />Secondary Road System was in order. Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption <br />of the following resolution: <br />WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with <br />the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, requesting <br />that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated <br />in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of <br />the opinion that the above described road should be added to the <br />Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards <br />and criteria established by the State Highway Commission for the <br />addition of roads to the System. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of <br />County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State High- <br />way Commission is hereby requested to review the above described <br />road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets establish- <br />ed standards and criteria. <br />
