J/ -7 4 . 6~OK ~ PkGE MINUTES OF THE ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR LEE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA October 19, 1970 The adjourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for Lee County, North Carolina, met in the Commissioner's room of the County Office Building at the corner of Steele and Wicker Streets in the City of Sanford, at 10:00 o'clock a. m., on Monday, October 19, 1970, the same being the hour, date and place duly established for the holding of such meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order and on roll call, the following answered present: William H. Cooper, Perry White, Franklin D. Wicker, Gordon A. Wicker and John E. Dotterer. The Chairman declared everyone present and the meeting open for the transaction of business. Chairman John E. Dotterer presided and the following business was transacted: Mr. W. H. Ray, Chairman of the Lee County Board of Elections, appeared before the Board and requested the authorization to employ a full time employee for the registration of voters and that there were sufficient funds in the budget at the present time to finance such employment. Upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker, it was unanaimously RESOLVED to authorize the employment of a full time employee by the Board of Elections. The minutes of the meeting for October 5th, 1970, were approved and ordered recorded. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker reported that the approval and forwards ing of the Request for Addition of Humber Street Extension to the State Maintained Secondary Road System was in order. Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the State Highway Commission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee, that the State High- way Commission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets establish- ed standards and criteria.
