The request of Roxanne Mills for refund of the costs of collection of taxes was again brought before the Board butt:thie Board declined to take any further action, thereby rejecting this request. The monthly bills as tabulated by the County Accountant were approved for payment upon motion of Commissioner William H. Cooper, seconded by Comm- issioner White, and duly adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented a petition for the improve- ment of Secondary Road 1521, which runs by the Central Carolina Technical Institute, pass the old City dump. After discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption of the rollowing resolution: WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee has investigated the condition of the above described road which is now a part of the system of roads main- tained by the State Highway Commission, and whic&.is indicated in red on the attached map; and WHEREAS, after careful consideration of the services rendered by said road and the traffic demands of said county, it is deemed necessary that said road be improved in order to better serve the interests of the people of this county. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved, and the Board of County Commissioners hereby aproved and request that the State Highway Commission make the following improvements in the above described road: paved Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted. Commissioner Franklin D. Wicker presented the petition requesting the addition of Summerset Place and Devonshire Drive in Berkley Place Sub- division to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. After discussion, Commissioner Wicker moved the adoption. of the following resolution: WHEREAS, the attached petition has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee requesting that the above described road, the location of which has been indicated in red on the attached map, be added to the Secondary Road System; and WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is of the opinion that the above described road should be added to the Secondary Road System, if the road meets minimum standards and criteria established by the State Highway Comm- ission for the addition of roads to the System. NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Lee that the State Highway Commission is hereby requested to review the above described road, and to take over the road for maintenance if it meets established standards and criteria. Commissioner Cooper seconded the motion and upon a vote it was unanimously adopted.
