M <br />900+, 7 'RASE 484 <br />whereas it is necessary that the Board fix a time for the <br />hearing in order that proper notice can be given; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS <br />RESOLVED that January 4, 1970, at 10:00 o'clock <br />a. m. be and the same is hereby designated as the time and <br />the regular meeting rrom of the Commissioners is designated <br />as the place for the hearing on the petition required by G. S. <br />153-9 (17). <br />FURTHER RESOLVED that notice of said hearing <br />be published as required by G. S., 153-9 (17), said publication <br />to be at the expense of petitioners. <br />Commissioner Gordon Wicker seconded the motion and it was <br />carried by a vote of five in favor and none against. The original petition was <br />filed with the Board and is attached to the minutes. <br />. The list of monthly bills supported by invoices and purchase orders <br />were presented to the Board and considered. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />White, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, the payment of the bills as tabulated <br />by the County Accountant were authorized and approved. <br />The Clerk presented a letter from Mr. Raymond M. Taylor of the <br />Department of Local Affairs, regarding law research facilities. The Board <br />reviewed the questions presented and instructed the Clerk to-reply to the letter. <br />The Tax Supervisor, James L. Clark, appeared before the Board and <br />presented the resignation of Mrs. Christine Hearndon, as List Taker for Deep <br />River Township. The Tax Supervisor recommended the appointment of Mrs. John <br />L. Luck as a list taker in place of Mrs. Hearndon. Upon motion of Commissioner <br />Gordon A. Wicker, duly seconded by Commissioner William H. Cooper, and <br />unanimously adopted, it was RESOLVED to accept the resignation of Mrs. Christine <br />Hearndon and in her place and stead to appoint Mrs. John L. Luck as a list taker <br />for Deep River Township. <br />Mr. James L. Clark, Tax Supervisor, stated to the Board that the <br />Appraisal Company requested that the schedule of values for use in re-appraising <br />the County be determined at the meeting on January 4, 1971. <br />The written report of the Chairman of the Lee County Agricultural <br />Extension Service was received and distributed to the members of the Board. <br />The written report of the Tax Collector was received and distributed <br />to the members of the Board. <br />The written report of D. F. Holder, Sheriff of Lee County, was <br />received and distributed to the members of the Board. <br />Chairman Wicker requested the members of the Board to consider <br />appointments to a Bicentennial Commission as was discussed at the last meeting . <br />The Board discussed a letter received concerning the Zoological Park <br />and referred it to Mr. Bob Brickhouse, the Chairman of the Lee County Zoological <br />Park Committee. <br />Mr. L. L. Beckham,. Civil Defense Director, appeared before the <br />Board and discussed storing of his hospital supplies. <br />The Chairman reminded the members there would be a meeting in <br />
