Information Meeting Date: April 4,2015 XX Action Item Consent Agenda StJ C : FY 2017 NC DOT Internship Program Contract DEPARTINENT: Lee County Senior Services - COLTS CONTACT Pd M,: Debbie Davidson it E T: Contract with NCDOT for intern Program The County of Lee Transit System has been approved for the FY 2017 =_�Wlntern Program through the North Carolina Department of Transportation. NC DOT wilt provide grant funding in the amount of $15,798.00 for salary, FICA, and a $1,000 travel allowance. Lee County is required to pay a 10% match of $1,756.00 for a total package of $17,554.00. Contract period is for June 1, 2018 through May 31, 2017. The County of Lee Transit System (COLTS) has implemented a pilot Zone routing project through ITRE- Institute'for Transportation and Research Education — NC State University. This project is new and the first of its kind for a Arced system; COLTS would like to be able to have an Intern to help with its full implementation and efficiancy of the project. The Intern responsibilities would include but not be limited to: • Monitor the sucxmss of the new zoning project • Report to the Trnwnsportation Coordinator recommendations for changes or improvements that need to be made to the routes and zone areas • Invorporate stops within the zone to include places of interest for better mobility of citizens to access medical, setait, eduction opportunities and employment. A type of "bus stop" service for a fare rate ' Mcmr%r the routes for efficiency and suggest -any changes to routes or stops • Prepare a survey and distribute to evaluate customer satisfaction and suggestions for improvements • Data analysis and customer satisfaction improvement recommendations.
