BK:00028 PG:0125 <br />Assistant to the County Manager Terrell Jones presented a water filter (Reverse Osmosis <br />System) that is manufactured by a local international company of pool and spa equipment — including <br />filters — that has a facility in Sanford, saying the company is willing to provide filters to the Colon Road <br />residents at cost. The filter would filter different particles and contaminants from well water. If <br />purchased on line the cost is approximately $200.00. He recommended citizens in the Colon/Osgood <br />community might like to purchase one if they are concerned about their water. Chair Dalrymple stated <br />the Sanford Area Growth Alliance (SAGA) has expressed an interest in holding a fundraiser to assist in <br />the purchase of filters. <br />The Board considered a Purchase Agreement for the purchase of property located at 1503 Elm <br />Street, Sanford. County Attorney Kerry Self stated the property will be used for additional space <br />needed at the Courthouse. The Board entered into negotiations with Ms. Nancy Watkins for the <br />purchase at the price of $435,000. Commissioner Oldham moved to approve the Purchase Agreement <br />for Property Located at 1503 Elm Street, a copy of which is attached to these Minutes and by this <br />reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board considered Budget Amendment # 03/07/16/14 for the following departments: <br />General Services — appropriate $440,000 from fund balance for the purchase <br />of property located at 1503 Elm Street <br />Sheriff — transferring budgeted temporary salary funds from the Sheriff's <br />Animal Control ($20,000) and SRO Departments ($10,000) to cover <br />temporary salaries for the Sheriff's Department <br />Sheriff-Druq Seizure Funds — transferring Drug Seizure Funds ($13,000) <br />to cover maintenance on drug seized vehicles. <br />Commissioner Frazier moved to approve Budget Amendment # 03/07/16/14 as presented, a copy of <br />which is attached to these Minutes and by this reference made a part hereof. Upon a vote, the results <br />were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />The Board discussed training for volunteers serving on County boards/commissions. <br />Commissioner Reives asked this item be placed on the Agenda because he had concerns some <br />volunteers were not being given enough training to do their jobs. He stated he felt each <br />board/commission should have some type training in place when new members come on board. After <br />discussion, Commissioner Reives moved that each department responsible for a board/commission <br />provide that information to the Clerk to be incorporated as part of the Board's policy and kept on file and <br />posted on line for citizens to review.
