do►tv-) <br />LEE COUNTY <br />Committed Today for a Better Tomorrow <br />LEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />RESOLUTION <br />HONORING RETIRED HEALTH DIRECTOR TERRELL JONES <br />WHEREAS, Terrell Jones began employment with the Lee County Health Department in August 2011 as the <br />County Health Director; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Jones will be retiring from Lee County effective April 1, 2016, with 29 years of public health <br />experience including time as. an Environmental Health Specialist, Director of the Jones County Health <br />Department, Environmental Supervisor with the DENR Wade Program and also with the DENR Shellfish <br />Sanitation Section, and, <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Jones also volunteered in the US Peace Corps as a math and English teacher in southwest <br />Kenya in Africa; and, <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was responsible for organizing breast health care events for Lee County's growing <br />Hispanic population and advancing the drug overdose prevention initiative Project Lazarus; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Jones was also responsible for initiating a monthly mobile dental unit with free services at <br />the Helping Hand Clinic and updating the county's technology and electronic records management; and <br />WHEREAS, Mr. Jones completed extensive research on pressing public health concerns the county faced, <br />including needs likely to arise if hydraulic fracturing brings an influx of people to the area; and <br />WHEREAS, recently Mr. Jones has been working closely with the County Manager on special projects to help <br />address the water issues in the Colon/Osgood communities; and <br />WHEREAS, upon his retirement, Mr. Jones plans on relocating to his native Asheville and work in consulting <br />for nonprofit public health organizations; and <br />WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Lee County Board of Commissioners for Lee County to recognize the <br />achievements of Mr. Jones and to express its appreciation for his dedicated service and contributions to Lee <br />County. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for Lee County that it congratulates <br />Mr. Jones for his career of public service, and it wishes him continued success in all his future endeavors. <br />Adopted and presented this 21St day of March 2016. <br />T A EST: <br />� - ayhe M.
