Hales Recreation Center <br />John: <br />Bids were received from four (4) general contractors for the Renovations to the Bob E. Hales <br />Center on January 14, 2016. Attached is a completed bid tabulation form outlining the general <br />contractor's bidding, license number, inclusion of bid bond, subcontractor listing and unit <br />prices. <br />H.M. Kern Corporation of Greensboro, North Carolina was the apparent low bidder with a bid of <br />$212,800.00. Their bid package included the required bid bond and subcontractor listing <br />submittals and is deemed acceptable. <br />After receipt of the bids, I instructed Jason Kepley, project manager for H. M. Kern <br />Corporation to explore and provide a list of possible value engineering options that might be <br />considered to reduce the overall project cost. Below is a list of those deductions. <br />Eliminate project sign: $500.00 <br />Install vinyl composition file (VCT) in <br />restrooms in lieu of ceramic tile: 600.00 <br />Install an alternate light fixture 1,500.00 <br />Eliminate concrete paving and striping for parking spaces <br />Sidewalks and ADA ramp to be installed 2.500.00 <br />Total Deductions: $5,100.00 <br />Potential revised contract amount: $207,700.00 <br />
