A. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: March 21, 2016 XX Action Item <br />Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Bids for Bob E. Hales Center Renovation Project <br />DEPARTMENT: Parks & Recreation <br />CONTACT PERSON: John Payne, Director <br />REQUEST: Bids for Renovations of the Bob E. Hales Center <br />SUMMARY: At the February 15th Commissioners meeting the County <br />Manager was instructed to contact the City of Sanford for assistance in the $62,000 shortfall for the <br />Bob E. Hales Center Renovation Project. The item was removed from the March 71h agenda until <br />the March 21St meeting. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: Architect Tim Sherman reviewed the low bid and value <br />engineered some items. The low bid from H. M. Kern Corporation of Greensboro was reduced to <br />$207,000. With Architectural fees ($16,500) and a small 5% contingency ($10,385) the total project <br />cost is now $234,335. The original estimate and amount used for the FY 2015-16 Parks & <br />Recreation budget is $164,000. Parks & Rec can add $8,000 from their existing budget to assist <br />with the shortfall. If this is done the shortfall is $62,335.00. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): (1) Letter from Architect Tim Sherman, (2) Eligible Bidders <br />List, (3) Bid Tabulation Form, (4) H.M. Kern Corporation Bid Proposal, (5) Appendix B Value <br />Engineering approving budget for project, (6) Map of facility, (7) revenue estimates, and (8) funding <br />proposal. <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: At the February 151h meeting the County Manager was <br />directed to contact City for assistance; March 7th meeting the item was pulled from the Agenda. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Recommends approve using Fund Balance to cover shortfall. <br />
