BK -00027 PG:1026 <br />• Acceptance of $3,000.00 Association of Food and Drug Officials <br />(AFDO) Grant Funding for the Health Department. <br />Upon a vote, the results were as follows: <br />Aye: Dalrymple, Frazier, Knecht, Oldham, Reives, Sloan, and Smith <br />Nay: None <br />The Chair ruled the motion had been adopted unanimously. <br />No one signed up to speak during the Public Comments section of the meeting. <br />The Board considered an RFP for fiber broadband internet service for the Raleigh Executive <br />Jetport. IT Director Kyle Edwards stated as part of a plan to extend fiber to areas critical to economic <br />development in Lee County, an RFP was published with the purpose of competitively procuring fiber <br />optic broadband service for the Raleigh Executive Jetport and interested tenants on the property. Fiber <br />is needed to provide adequate internet service to the Terminal Building and Forestry Service. Mr. <br />Edwards stated construction will be the first of several projects which we hope to undertake to expand <br />fiber in the County. Other tenants will have the ability to gain access to this valuable infrastructure. The <br />following bids were received on December 18th for said project: <br />• Windstream: <br />3 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $584 and $2,877 <br />5 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $444 and $2,590 <br />Construction cost: $227,902.00 <br />• Charter: <br />3 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $475 and $4,350 <br />5 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $380 and $3,450 <br />Construction cost: $420,000.00 <br />• Riverstreet: <br />3 year 50Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $1,250 and $3,450 <br />5 year 50Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $1,125 and $3,105 <br />Construction cost: $744,000 for Option A or $1,047,000.00 for Option B <br />• Broadplex, LLC: (currently serving school system) <br />3 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $300 and $2,640 <br />5 year 10Mb vs 1 Gb monthly cost $250 and $2,200 <br />Construction cost: $78,000 (if only the terminal building signs on then could need an <br />additional $7,800) <br />Mr. Edwards recommended the bid be awarded to Broadplex, LLC in the amount of $78,000. It was <br />also stated funding for the project is available through revenue obtained from the sale of the <br />wastewater lift station to the City of Sanford. Commissioners had pledged to use these funds for <br />broadband and economic development purposes. After discussion, Commissioner Smith moved to <br />accept the bid from Broadplex and authorize staff to provide a notice to proceed and develop contracts <br />for the project.
