Summary of Other Cost Items 060 Aside from costs associated with renovations to existing facilities, the DPI 2015-2016 Facility Needs Survey requests information related to the following categories: Furniture and Equipment - $5,393,486 A large portion of the total cost is a result of amounts automatically inserted for furniture and equipment directly related to new construction which totals approximately $4.2M. Aside from new construction, funding is needed throughout the district for replacement of classroom, media center, and cafeteria furniture for an approximate amount of $835K most of which was prioritized in years 3-5. Costs associated with equipment needs in kitchens amounted to an approximate total of $400K also prioritized in years 3-5. New Schools - $41,684,176 Costs for two new elementary schools were determined by entering information into worksheets provided with the DPI 2015-2016 Facility Needs Survey. For the purposes of this report, the schools were named "First New Elementary School" and "Second New Elementary School." The First New Elementary School is designed for 110,000 sq.ft. with a capacity of 900. Base -line costs per square foot are calculated at $194/sq.ft. bringing the project total for construction to $23,687,494. Furniture and Equipment for the First New Elementary School is calculated at $2,072,423 resulting in $25,759,917 total cost. The Second New Elementary School is designed for 83,573 sq.ft. with a capacity of 700. Base -line costs per square foot are calculated at $194/sq.ft. bringing the project total for construction to $17,996,682. Furniture and Equipment for the Second New Elementary School is calculated at $1,597,777. This cost of the Second New Elementary School also includes $1,950,000 bringing the total cost estimate to $21,544,459. The projects are recommended for construction in Years 3-5. Additions — $5,994,212 Costs for two additions were determined by entering information into worksheets provided with the DPI 2015-2016 Facility Needs Survey. Approximate costs of $2.8M for a new gymnasium at Bragg Street Academy was determined by utilizing the worksheets in the state forms. Additional costs for the project in the amount of $200K is included in the "Furniture and Equipment" section of the report bringing the project total to $3M. The project is recommended for construction in Years 3-5. Approximate costs of $3.2M for a new auditorium at Southern Lee High School was determined by utilizing the worksheets in the state forms. Additional costs for the project in the approximate amount of $300K are included in the "Furniture and Equipment" section of the report bringing the project total to $3.5M. The project is recommended for construction in Years 3-5. Land - $1,950,000 A requirement for land to build one of the two new elementary schools was estimated at 30 acres.
