IT Director Kyle Edwards stated as part of a plan to extend,fiber to areas critica conomic <br />development in Lee County, an RFP was published with the pur of competitively pr curing fiber <br />optic broadband service for the Raleigh Executive Jetport and i rested tenants on the property. Fiber <br />is needed to provide adequate internet service to the Ter I Buil and Forestry Service. Mr. <br />Edwards stated construction will be the first of several projec c e dope to undertake to expand <br />fiber in the County. Other tenants will have the ability to gain acc this valuable infrastructure. It was <br />also stated f g for the project is available through revenue obtained from the sale of the <br />wastewater lift station to the City of Sanford. Commissioners had pledged to use these funds for <br />broadband and economic development purposes. After discussion, Commissioner Smith moved to <br />accept the bid from Broadplex and authorize staff to provide a notice to proceed and develop contracts <br />for the project.
