C. _ Information Meeting Date: January 4, 2016 Action Item XX Consent Agenda SUBJECT: Emergency Management Performance Grant Application for FY 2016 DEPARTMENT: Lee County Office of Emergency Services CONTACT PERSON: Shane Seagroves, 919-718-4670 REQUEST: Authorize Submission of Annual Emergency Management Performance Grant application for FY 2016; authorize the County Manager, Finance Director, and Emergency Services Director to sign required documents. SUMMARY: The purpose of the FY 2016 EMPG program is to provide grants to states to assist state, local, tribal and territorial governments in preparing for all hazards, as authorized by the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.) Title VI of the Stafford Act authorizes FEMA to make grants for the purpose of providing a system of emergency preparedness for the protection of life and property in the United States. Each local entity is required to submit an application to the State Administrative Agency (SAA) to receive funding. For North Carolina, the SAA is through the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management, a division of the Department of Public Safety. Emergency Management estimates that Lee County will receive $34,000 once the application process is completed and that estimate will be included in the FY 2016 - 2017 budget revenue line item. This is an annual grant program and Lee County has been a participant each year at least since 2004. BUDGET IMPACT: None — 50% match requirement is provided by in-kind contributions.
