C. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: January 4, 2016 Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Emergency Management Performance Grant Application for FY 2016 <br />DEPARTMENT: Lee County Office of Emergency Services <br />CONTACT PERSON: Shane Seagroves, 919-718-4670 <br />REQUEST: Authorize Submission of Annual Emergency Management Performance <br />Grant application for FY 2016; authorize the County Manager, Finance Director, and Emergency <br />Services Director to sign required documents. <br />SUMMARY: The purpose of the FY 2016 EMPG program is to provide grants to states <br />to assist state, local, tribal and territorial governments in preparing for all hazards, as authorized by the <br />Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act (42 U.S.C. 5121 et seq.) Title VI of <br />the Stafford Act authorizes FEMA to make grants for the purpose of providing a system of emergency <br />preparedness for the protection of life and property in the United States. Each local entity is required to <br />submit an application to the State Administrative Agency (SAA) to receive funding. For North Carolina, <br />the SAA is through the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management, a division of the <br />Department of Public Safety. Emergency Management estimates that Lee County will receive $34,000 <br />once the application process is completed and that estimate will be included in the FY 2016 - 2017 <br />budget revenue line item. This is an annual grant program and Lee County has been a participant each <br />year at least since 2004. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: None — 50% match requirement is provided by in-kind contributions. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): Application <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: Approved Annually <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize submission of grant application and authorize the County <br />Manager, Finance Director, and Emergency Services Director to sign required documents. <br />
