G. <br />_ Information <br />Meeting Date: December 21, 2015 _ Action Item <br />XX Consent Agenda <br />SUBJECT: Acceptance of National Association of County and City Health <br />Officials (NACCHO) Grant funding <br />DEPARTMENT: <br />CONTACT PERSON <br />Health <br />Terrell Jones/Heath Cain <br />Cl 3 <br />REQUEST: This is a request to the Board of Commissioners to accept additional <br />grant funding through a five-year cooperative agreement between NACCHO and the Food and <br />Drug Administration (FDA) in the amount of $7,000 to aid in the completion of policy development <br />projects to enhance conformance with the Voluntary National Retail Food Regulatory Program <br />Standards. <br />SUMMARY: Lee County Environmental Health is undertaking a 5 -year FDA <br />training development program to develop and integrate the 9 FDA standards of the Voluntary <br />National Retail Food Regulatory Program Standards into our policies and procedures. In year 1, <br />Lee County Environmental Health completed our self-assessment. Standard 1 was submitted for <br />audit and approved in July 2015. This year, Lee County Environmental Health will be a mentee and <br />be matched with Pitt County Environmental Health, who will provide guidance on Standard 9. This <br />grant will allow us to build upon existing Environmental Health policies and integrate innovative <br />ideas into the food, lodging and institution inspection process. <br />BUDGET IMPACT: $7,000.00 with no county match required. <br />ATTACHMENT(S): NACCHO Retail Program Standards Mentorship Program <br />Acceptance Letter <br />PUBLIC HEARING: No <br />PRIOR BOARD ACTION: Board of Commissioners gave permission to apply for NACCHO <br />grant on 11/2/2015 <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve acceptance of grant funding as presented. <br />
